So from day 1 I have been against instagram. It's just full of mongs, its not my thing. I don't like selfies, the idea of a selfie makes my dick shrink.

But looking on there, a few of my competitors seem to be doing well. Our suppliers do really well. Other people in our niche seem quite active...

Right now our core customers are old people, I think instagram might lower our average age a little bit, after all old people people feel like I do about it.

So help a instagram noob out, I've signed up. WTF is next...

How can I schedule posts like I can with twitter/facebook?

Can I do all this off my PC?

How do I get the ball rolling with some followers...

I am a total level 1 noob at this, prove to me the instagram gurus of this forum are not retards. Show me the ways of the jedi.

You can't schedule posts on Instagram. Well, you can "schedule" them using apps like Latergramm, but what it does is simply remind you that it's time to "post", so you still press the button to post it.

Instagram didn't want anyone meddling with their API in terms of post automation cause they said it takes away the natural and spontaneous vibe of the social media platform.

As for tips... It really depends on what you're using it for. What is your current objective? Get leads?

My guy got a software posting once per day for him. But it is randomly spread around and you can't really optimize the scheduling (to a time where the most people are active) which is annoying. I would start off by just posting maybe 50 images on day one so that your followers see that your account is filled and not just something that won't be updated - after that, follow people from your competitors followers.

The amount of times you should post varies a lot on the niche. I know a lot of humor accounts posting probably 40 times a day and pretty much spam it out as people can't really get enough of it while others do at most 1-2 posts per day as that makes the most sense.

Ecommerce sales - seems to be working for others so I decided we should also join the party.

You definitely should. I feel the same way about IG, but it is, without question, where the people are. Even 30, 40 year olds are posting their selfies and putting up ridiculous hashtags on Instagram now.

I second hekke, just focus on actually making your "Feed" look good for now. Post beautiful images with appropriate captions and hashtags. Keep the hashtags to 2 to 3 at most. Don't start out brand hashtags like #SteDesigns since it's retarded and won't do you any good (I know you won't do that). Just ride the wave and ride the famous hashtags related to your niche.

Since you're new, and you're in a legit business, I don't really suggest that you use any of the bots that I'm sure will be suggested here. Go organic and manual, at least initially. Just beautify your feed by posting great content with relevant hashtags and then worry about the followers after that.

Is your company B2B or B2C?

I was the same Ste! Never interested in Instagram but set up an account for an unusual niche a few months ago and now have 11K followers. Now planning to build more in new niches.

My preference is using Massplanner. I am pulling images from Pinterest RSS feeds and then dripping them to Instgram (5 - 10 per day), plus the usual liking, sharing and follow/unfollow stuff.

Seems to be working, but need to test a much bigger niche with multiple accounts.

You can upload photos from PC using the Gramblr.

You can use Photo Saver app for Android to mass download photos from other profiles, photos with specific tags...

Natural followers will be hard to get, so use some other method, or if you are super handsome, have lot of money... you can post your photos.

Basically you can do a lot of things with instagram. I recommend investing in Massplanner, there you can post how many times/day you want, manage how many accounts you want and set your account to automatically follow/unfollow. I highly recommend in the first week to keep your account safe and let him "warm". Post 1-2 times/day manually from the phone and follow 5-10 users/day max without unfollow. After that, you can scale it up a little bit. If you want to use multiple accounts i highly recommend using them with dedicated proxies (1/account).

Another cool thing you can do with Massplanner is that you can follow your competitors followers and people who like their posts. Sure you know this software, cause lot of people is using it for facebook group posting. They implemented great stuff for Instagram also. You also need to buy extra modules to use instagram at full power with it. Example: i have a 5 months old account. I use it via massplanner, following 600/day, posting automatically posts from rss feeds 6 times/day at random times that i set.

So, for a safe start, just post relevant pictures for your business, watermarked, follow a little in the start and use relevant hashtags. If you are lucky, maybe you can find some good shoutout providers with real followers (i didn't had luck with this, just scams with fake followers who charge 30-40-50$/shoutout).

Hope this will help you a little!

lol Ste, i guess trolling requires a whole person, at least if you want to master it, which you (try to) do :) and you're so busy with it, that you haven't noticed, that half of the forum which is not SEO, is pretty much about instagram

anyway, you may want to look out for JustChillin's A-Z threads:

I've been learning the game too...

I use 4k stogram, a free tool to download another account's images.

I also use followliker which seems to work fine. I'm in a tough niche but i get about 40-60 followers a day only following and unfollowing and posting once a day. Would post more if I was in a different niche.

    Good luck...

start following people from a niche related account. i dont use a bot so ill usually allow myself to follow 1k people and then ill unfollow all of them and then repeat the process. i did that until i got to 10-15k and then i just got a bunch of natural followers

I'm using massplanner too (also instagram noob) previously I use hootsuite.
Hootsuite will push a picture to your phone then you can post from there.
Massplanner will post from your pc. But you need to pay another $35 and it stated clearly that posting on instagram with something that's not your phone is against TOS.
You can go to http://www.massplanner.com/video-tutorials/ and watch some video. It indeed is a nice program.

Instagram repulses me to my core. Filters? Selfies? Showing what you're eating? No, thank you.
