Let's cut the bullshit and get straight into it.
I am a self taught software developer, I did finish school for innovative programming and I am trying to make a side income with the help of my coding skills.
I recently posted a application that I developed onto a market platform for $149 and no one has purchased it.
I figured this was quite strange since there is a similar tool on that market that costs $349 and it has half the functions my version has and mine looks way better in terms of UI yet the seller has managed to make over 300 sales.
So what I did was that I lowered the price to $69 today and I am going to wait until someone buys a copy.
There are a few factors I've taken into account that can be the cause of no sales.
1) I am new to the market platform and I have only 1 product with no reviews.
2) the price is too high
3) people didn't get their paycheck yet so they can't spend $69
or 4 I am really unlucky and I should just go sit under a rock because at this point it feels like I have a better chance of someone walking up to me offering me $69 out of thin air.
All jokes aside, it was really discouraging seeing a developer uploading a product the same date as me (the 30th) and having 5 sales already. (It was a music player for $39) seeing how I developed my own license system and I spend quite some time developing it and the software.
my application is a tool that generates traffic & live visitors to your website and it's Google Analytics safe.
This seemed really popular based upon some research on the marketplace.
So my questions at this point is..
1). What software should I develop, what could be useful or in demand.
2). Should I lower the price?
3) What other recommendations do you have? What are some good research tips to keep in mind?
4) Should I develop something that doesnt exist on the marketplace and be the only one there?
5) Should I copy some small apps on there and try to push as many as possible?
It seemes to be apps on there that help you do things, I don't know what people need help with though.
