I have noticed what seems like a strange dip in my sales over the last few days, I know its hard to tell from just a couple of days but I am using conversion prophet so I know that I am getting good interest in my page. Also I found some very sketchy looking referrals in my records such as mhtml:file://Cocuments and SettingsBretDesktopmykeywordthememysite.mht and keywordhacker.com what is keyword hacker? And who the fuck is Bret?!! sounds very sketchy and confirms my fears that I am being hacked. What the fuck is this?! I think that someone may have used my details from being here to monitor what I was doing on the net and then find my site that was making money, and somehow intercept my sales! I am sure their are hackers on this forum and I know that most people would not know about this but, the evidence is very sketchy indeed. I don't know what I should do and I don't even know how someone could do this, if anyone is savvy to this sort of thing or even has any clues, please help. If someone is or could do this to me, then they could be doing it to many on this forum and this I consider to be not just black hat, I think this cuts right over the line and goes into something very illegal and at the I feel like if i find out who this is I am just going to take their nuts, stick them in a vice, and keep fucking turning that fucking handle!! Please help me guys this is really fucked up! I have worked my ass off to get to where I am now, and it someone has the knowledge to rip that right from me Please help
I don't think, I know you are. Theres a guy who creates programs to run along side with computers and scan Id's of affiliates and then launches Trojans into certain computers and it gives him the ability to gank your affiliate commisions from right up under your nose and if you try to rid your computer of trojans and malware it comes back even worse. It sucks but thats what they do, and they profit like $15k to $40k a month doing it all of yours and others hard work.
If your not sure of what your doing, invest the money, take it to a pro, and have your machine cleaned. Check for cookies to, I had a site organically ranked at no 1 until some black hat picked me off using them. Still haven't completely recovered. Maybe put you affiliate stuff on hold until you get this figured out. good luck
Download Super AntiSpyware (its free type it in google) and add the following code to your .htacess file. "To block these spam referrers you need the following lines in your .htaccess file: " # set the spam_ref variable SetEnvIfNoCase Referer "^http://(www.)?some-spammer.com" spam_ref=1 SetEnvIfNoCase Referer "^http://(www.)?other-spammer.com" spam_ref=1 SetEnvIfNoCase Referer "^casino-poker" spam_ref=1 # block all referres that have spam_ref set <FilesMatch "(.*)"> Order Allow,Deny Allow from all Deny from env=spam_ref </FilesMatch> " I found that code on Google so I guess you could give it a try. Just trying to help
Having .mht in your referer log only means that someone has saved a copy of your site in Internet Explorer for off-line browsing. When browsing offline relative links just go to the stored page but clicking on an absolute link will fetch the page live. So someone clicking an absolute link will give you such a referer entry... Keywordhacker.com is just a keyword research tool. I suspect it's just someone looking deeply into your site to see what you've done, perhaps trying to replicate it, steal ideas or content. There's nothing here to suggest you've been hacked, so I wouldn't worry too much. (it is of course a good idea to run regular scans anyway)
Hey guys, thanks for all your help, except for you svakanda I think all is well and I was just freaking out over nothing, I have made a few sales since, and I guess if i was being hacked I would not be making any sales hey?? I did however find a malware on my computer and was wondering if maybe its possible that it is a bot that somehow steals commissions? hmmmm, anyway, this whole thing has made me a little less naive, and I will be more aware of "the dark side" of the internet from now on, so all in all it was a good thing. Thanks again for your help, Nick
I don't get it. How is it possible for someone to steal your affiliate commission? Can someone care to explain this to me?
They have a trojan that when you login to FTP will access it and impliment there own cookie stuffing code
