I run a forum and to add content I like to copy articles from Ezine and other related niche forums. Should I be posting the tutorials inside the [code) brackets so Google does not see me duplicating content and the owners of the content can't find the content? I don't care about the seo about this individual page. However, I do for the majority of the forum. Also, should I link to the article? Should I put the link inside the code brackets or not?

Can someone please supply some details so I can get content to entertain my members, not get any problems from the content owners and not lose my members to the sites I got the content from (if I linked to the article).

Help please? Opinions? What would you do?

You can use articles from directories for free for your own use. Thats the point of article directories.

You can copy the articles from Ezines, just don't forget to include the source link.

You both don't have a clue.

Your not answering the questions. Well no shit to copy articles from Ezine. What do I do with the code brackets?

First of all, you have nothing to worry about duplicate content. It is not duplicate content if it is not on the same domain.

Honestly, I think you should keep all links in tact. Both the links of the author and the links to the article directory you took the article from.

I would recommend that you'll add target="_new" to the links; this way even when the readers click on the links they do not leave your forum but a new tab/browser will open.

Code tags may protect you but to be safe here is what I would do.

Make sure you have a t.o.s stating you have no control over what is posted but any copyrighted stuff will be deleted once brought to your attention...blah blah blah and all the disclaimers and shit. All users must agree to abide by these rules....blah blah blah

Then create a user profile on your forum and post all of the articles and shit that you want too under that profile. If any crap comes back at you....ban the profile and delete that post.

You have done your duty as a responsible forum owner

True. I can do that on top. But I rather avoid the problem in the first place. Should I put the articles and the source link in code brackets?

Here is your concern about duplicate content which I just mentioned that you have nothing to worry about since it is obvious that you are on a different domain than EZA.

It is ironic that you say that no one understands you but actually you don't understand the answers. Check yourself first before you call dumb ass to people... especially when they are taking the time to help you.

yes use code brackets and there will not be any outgoing link. So no SERP leak.
further if you use links in code then you will safe from copyright issue too.
