    Hello mates,

I just almost ordered my laptop (HP ProBook 4530) from this local store which provides hire-purchases to their customers and I have few questions before I start with the payment process.

I know my questions may sound as "noob ones" but since i'm not an "expert" when it comes to choose the right technology stuffs , I would really appreciate your help mates.

As I cited above , I'm going to get HP ProBook 4530 which seems an excellent choice for me right now but I just wanted to get sure about few things.

I didn't even notice that this Laptop has Linux installed on it , so what do you guys think , does it worth to use a Linux ?
I'm going to need it for "every-day use" (for IM) and most of the programs that I use are Windows based. Is it easy to uninstall Linux and then install Windows (XP or 7) ?

And while I was checking the specifications , I noticed that there is just "1x 10/100/1000 Ethernet" and I don't see any "WiFi".
Does it means that I will be able to get connected only through wire-connection and not through Wireless ?

Here's a screenshot of the specifications though :

I really apologize , since you may really laugh with my questions and you would treat me as a "dumb" but it's my first time that i'm buying something on my own and I don't really have wide-knowledge when it comes to hardware specifications.

I would really appreciate your help mates !
    Thanks alot,

    Best wishes ..

    Wifi = Yes

As far as linux is concerned you can replace it with windows of your choice. :) I believe sellers pre load laptops with linux so that they can sell it a lower price.

man....stay away from HP....they are the worst computers ever. I've had a laptop, after 1 year problems started. After 2 years i had to throw it.

    I also had a HP printer....worst i've ever owned....

My friends also complained about HP....

So, my advice, stay away from HP and Acer

I don't agree with this post.

I don't see anything wrong with HP Computers,
but I do not recommend Linux.

By "WiFi = Yes" , you meant to say Yes, it has WiFi option included or Yes, it doesn't have ! ?
I believe you meant , that it does :)
As long as there is WiFi , i'm really .. allright :) since it's much more comfortable and effective , especially during trips / travel.
For sure, I suspected that they just forgot to mention WiFi on the specifications because a Laptop like that must have WiFi option included.

Oh and about the OS , well yeah .. but Linux it's not really used by peoples on my country at all , or at least I never met a real person who uses Linux , I know it may sound weird .. but I think there are alot of factors and advantages which makes Windows more used by peoples.
I don't really have any idea how Linux works but I will definitly have to replace it with Windows , since most of the programs today are Windows based. :)

Thanks alot for your time bro ,
Would appreciate if you reply again , just to make sure what you exactly meant with "WiFi = Yes"

    Best wishes :)

Thanks for your time man ,
Well .. I don't really know what to say !

I know alot of peoples using HP products and they were satisfied with their quality and how stable they were.
Also , I've been searching for few months over internet about reviews, comments by HP Pb 4530's owners and so far, they all were satisfied with it .. however, this local store provides 1 year warranty and support , so if I have any complaints about it , I can just contact them and they might solve it for me.

I can't deny the fact that every product may contain cons but I think it all depends on peoples choice .. everyone likes or dislikes something on their own way ..

It may be a general problem though , don't really know ..

    Thanks alot though !
    Appreciate your time :)

Thanks for your time mate ..

    Neither I ..
I haven't owned any HP product though but so far , it doesn't look like it's something not "suggested" by peoples ..

Yeah , I'll try to replace the Linux with Windows !
What would you suggest me , should I go for Windows 7 or XP ?

How about softwares that are created for XP , will they work on Windows 7 as well ?

    Thanks for your time,
    Appreciate that bro :) !

this is just my consumer experience :)

I'm now using a Toshiba, and got nothing to complain about. Assus is also good.

And you should go for windows 7...XP it's to old and has less features

To hell with HP, DELL & other crap.

    You have 2 choices.

    APPLE macbook pro or LENOVO Thinkpad T400, T410S, T410, or smaller size LENOVO x201, x201s, x210, x210s.

Trust me. Im selling & repairing laptops & computer stuff since 2004.

Yes Lenovos are ugly like ****. But you will learn to love them.

Else, Macbooks have the world best screen i have ever seen, best colors.
Doesnt matter if you order glare TFT or not glare TFT.
You cannot compare apple macbook glare TFT with other cheap glare TFTs.
they arent that bad with some lightsource behind you, reflections arent that bad :)

If thats too expensive (older models on ebay for 600€) then get a new acer laptop withhout OS installed for 399€, download windows 7 at thepiratebay, install it, install windows loader and youre set to go.

Emmm , For me I had budget of 1000$ and I'm Architecture Student ( we need beasts not laptops as we literally burn them from work ) , There were HP Core i7 and 8 GB Ram , 2 Video Cards and with Same Price VAIO Core I5 , 4GB Ram ( half in specifications ) and I'm talking now from my VAIO . Never regret my decision for one second. I agree with the reply above ( APPLE ) but why would I have pay the double price. Maybe when I'm rich enough.
However, when someone ( classmates ) ask me for advice I tell them go for HP it doesn't have the best material but I love its compatibility. I have to say also that some of my friends faced problems with it.

After all you should depending how you will use it ? ... Good Luck :)
