I saw this in a forum and want some positive feedback from everyone. Is it worth it?

Why not go to yahoo and create say, 50 yahoogroups, add your link on the home page and edit the email template with your links on them. Advertise the yahoogroups and before long you'll have hundreds if not thousands of people joining those lists and for every person that sends out an email, your links will be in the email too. Best way to get free traffic."

This will work if you are able to create a useful yahoo group where people who are passionate in your niche will join and make this happen.
It is not easy like it sounds. If you just create 50 yahoo groups for the sole purpose of promoting your sites, not many people will join. Besides Yahoo will also delete blatant spam groups.
