I registered the domain name to my hometown and parked it on sedo.com I'm getting emails asking what "I would sell it for" (I'm not sure really) I bought it with the attentions of possibly turning it into a site or if the opportunity came about I would lease it to the city.

    what do you think?

I would lease it for monthly fee... that's the best, recurring income. And of course, you still stay as the owner of the domain...

A subscription based business directory could be a great way of generating some residual income - like a localised version of the yellowpages.

Good luck with it either way.

@Sweet Chuck the population was 93,810 in the 2010 Census

@Havingaddable that is what I was thinking.

Sell it while you can. Places is going to make it irrelevant within a few years.

You could add info about your city and advertise its hotels and flights with also some adsense! Else offer it monthly!

Do you own xxxxxcity.com or xxxxx.com

xxxxx stands for your city name.

Yeah i would setup a directory type site.

Make hotel.city-name.com , dentist.city-name.com, and just rent all of those pages out. Get them paying a monthly. Huge recurring income potential, and it would be great for their SEO. Once the domain gets a certain authority, all the sites will be ranking at the top.

And then feel free to rent the root of the domain to the town.

As for the OP, sell that shit for top dollar bro. I would sell it for no less then 10k, firm as hell too.

City domain names work well for the travel niche, especially if there are many tourist attractions.
