    Hey,

I was checking out my fave A-list celebs twitter tonight, and I discovered that the account had been closed. (It was a verified account). Thinking that the username may be available (eg. FirstnameLastname), I signed up. Sure enough it was!

I now own a really famous persons twitter account. WTF should I do with it. Ive set it up atm as the persona of just a normal person with that same name...

Now when all the journalists wanna go on the celebs previously known official account, theyll get me!

This person is an A-list Hollywood actor that is very popular among men and known for her looks

I have the twitter name of a really famous financial guy.... world wide recognition. Think who would be interested in hearing what your person would say/think and get followers in that genre.

That is wicked. If you have a movie-tv site, could you not generate traffic to "exclusive sneak peak" kind of stuff?

Should I pretend to be the star? Or will it get shut down? Can twitter take it back if the star wants to come back to twitter?

Generic comments, Dude. Don't make it obvious that you are her or not her.

Look at the mock accounts, that's the best way to get away with it. You can still reap the benefits of promoting some "sneak peeks" or trailers, and twitter won't ban you because you're openly mocking a celebrity by pretending to be them. Freedom of speech rocks.

    That's freaking outstanding.

Gain all those followers before attacking.

Will twitter take it back if the celeb wants their twitter back? The celeb used to use this twitter daily!

I doubt it, if the celebrity really wanted it back they would probably have to work out a deal with you. Twitter won't just delete someone's account if another person asks them (unless you're breaking twitter's terms of service).

How weird is this? That a celeb who tweets daily just drops their acct. I'm always paranoid with stuff like that (not that I wouldn't exploit it to the hilt though..hehe) and assume it'll get taken back but I agree with mofaux, i.e. work with it without saying you are the celeb, slap up some movie review sites etc and let everyone know about how much you liked/hated something that just came out (Despicable Me for instance). Or how about some cpa crap that is for cosmetic or beauty products. Fuck man you could roll with this.

lol i reckon the situation was like this. The bf or husband was like "You're on your goddam twitter too much!"

Celeb girl - "Fine! I'll delete it!"

    *deletes*

    5 Minutes later.

Celeb girl - "I want my twitter back =("

Interesting....I tried that before (snatching up a celebrity-named twitter account). I did not post much on the account. However a few weeks later when I tried to log into the account, the account was renamed to "fake (celebrity name)".

The real celebrity took her name back on twitter and had it verified. Guess if they really want the account and hound twitter about it, they will get it.

Don't get it banned. Keep it real and if you have to, don't tweet.

Add you're contact details somewhere - make a seperate business account not linked to the twitter due to hackers.

When the bitch comes running back to twitter she'll contact that e-mail and BAM. Sell her it :D

(Well hopefully that works. Unless she makes NameSurnameOfficial or something.)

Why not just promote a facebook fanpage? When you get an opportunity like this, it's time to put the white hat on and stay for the long haul.
