Hi, this is my first post here. I have been collecting domains, and getting better at it for years now - I can obtain a free list daily of hundreds/thousands of premium domains as they expire. I have about 40 domains, many 4 character, even 3 character and a very good selection; they tend to be classed as adult mainly but I am not allowed to name them here due to being a newbie.

I am truly paranoid about the tax implications of this being anything more than a hobby, which it is, so is there any way (bitcoin, I know) to monetize these parked domains, or is there a company around please who buy bulk portfolios? Any assistance would be appreciated, these domains are becoming a liability now.

Are the domains about a topic such as skin.com - or just random letters such as xyz.com

I met with a guy who owned a domain about a very popular US Political issue last year, and he was convinced it was worth $50,000 minimum.

After I explained to him that while I hoped he was correct, generally a site only has value when it is monetized because the world is full of people who will try to sell you on potential. Of course he scoffed and I agreed to work with him because I had some free time and was genuinely curious what he could fetch for his domain.

Fast forward a few months, he fielded a couple offers from large political "SuperPACs" but tried to start a bidding war between them to fetch the highest possible price for his domain. Long story short...he pushed too hard, they lost interest and now he still owns the domain and is essentially $35,000 poorer. On top of that he has around 400 more domains he has collected over the years (he calls it his retirement plan). I hope it all works out for him in the end but man, I don't understand guys that collect domains for the heck of it - I would think lottery tickets might give a higher ROI than banking on hitting the jackpot with the right domain.

I want ask. You said you are domain collector. Are you just own domain name. or you make that domain into website. Such as installing CMS like wordpress joomla or else. ?
I think you domain will more valuable if that is a website. And yes its will worth more value if that domain name is readable and not random generic name. And if that domain had a PageRank or Traffic or Monetize it.

The acronyms; 3 or 4 letter ones are aimed at adults, business and random. Other, longer ones involve (adult) toilet humor, business, a sneaky keyword or two (think 'Ford') and random.

Sure, and thanks for your post - it's about time tho' and effort. I do not have the time to manage one website properly as much as I would like- no way with a whole portfolio! There are cash parking systems that provide content, any good suggestions, would be much appreciated.

To me it's like stamp collecting, I can produce huge lists now of premium AVAILABLE expired domains, I'm turning it into an app as a main product to sell. I will never lose more than I am comfortable with - I don't drink and know guys who spend more in pubs in a week than I spend domaining in a few months!

I'm interested in some aged domains, with or without traffic, I will build values for it within 2 -3 weeks and flip it!

    PM me.
