i have some really annoying adware on my PC. i have trend micro 30 day trial running a scan now (i hear they are really good). actually i had it running for about 16 hours straight. It gets stuck at 43% and just stays there. it found some things that need attention but i cant act on them because the freakin thing just stops working.

anyhow i could use a little help here. Thank you.

i will buy it if i have too. I just don't want any heavy ass program, thats going to bog my machine down.

you need to go to cnet.com and get malwarebytes...once its downloaded dont run it yet cuz most likely the adware wont let u run the software as is so download it then rename it "mbmm"...then run it in quick scan mode...once it catches the bugs...clear them...update...then do a full scan...once ur pc is clean...go back to cnet and get avg free...then download it and run a full scan until everything is crystal clear.

You could also try "ad aware" by lavasoft, that's a really good free one and then also use spybot search and destroy. Between those, should clear you up. And like Boo Blizzi said, get you some AVG.

Then, sounds like you might have some other cleaning to do, so get the free "ccleaner", do some house cleaning with that and finish up with another free one called "Glary utilities".

Should clean you up pretty good.

Many of the malwares leave an autoexec.bat and an exe file on your drives. These files are hidden, readonly. You need to go to your DOS command prompt. Go to C: Then check if there are any hidden .bat and .exe files. If you find them, change their attributes and delete these files. Then run malwarebytes. You may need to repeat this step 2-3 times on all your drives to get the beast out of your system.

dont really know how this is done. i know how to get to the DOS command prompt but, i don't know the commands to search for specific file types.

So far superantispyware seems to be the only surviver. it has found 251 threats and still scanning.

For me is without a doubt c0mb0fix the best solution there is. It even gets my system running again when i fucked it up big time in the early days and only windows was somewhat stable.

I would let it run for a hour and everything was as clean as a whistle and effin' fast again :D

Now i run it once a month and my comp is as new. Highly recommended and its FREE...
