I am looking to start my own local SEO business, but I would like some more ideas about promotion. I am working on the SEO right now. I am doing "local seo in (city + state)". But that is going to take some time. I am wondering if anybody has any ideas on how else I can promote my business online as of right now. I am also working on promotion IRL, but again that is going to take some time also.

Have you thought about searching up local companies online and contacting them directly? I would personally suggest calling them, but as you have said online sending an email would be the next best thing!

I have tried emailing multiple companies, but so far no response. I am sending out a batch of about 30 letters to different companies today. So if I don't here anything back from them in a few days after sending the letters, then I will call the companies and see what's up. lol. But thanks for the ideas :D

If it is only 30 letters a day you should call them instead:

    1. A phone call will get you a much better closing rate
    2. You will learn something from every call
    3. You will learn something from every company who says 'no' (this is valuable information).
    4. If a company sees your letter and is not interested you have little chance of converting them when you follow up with a call
    5. You have a chance of getting referrals on a phone call - you have no chance of referrals from a letter.

    Hi,

I had an seo / web design business.

    It is very over saturated.

But basically you need to "prove" you can deliver and add value to their business by delivering customers.

Just googling and then emailing them saying you can won't work.

Instead target a specific niche in general ie; restaurants and build an authority site that would help restaurants get more business and show them the benefits of working with you.

Then target a specific local niche keyword, ie: restaurants in london.

Build a micro site / sub page that ranks on the first page for that, you can then show prospects that you are on the first page ideally #1 and then they will take you more seriously. Then sell the site / advertising space, extra services etc to them.

Repeat for restaurants in manchester, restaurants in birmingham etc

PM me up if you want to talk more about how to do this quickly.

    1) Offer them a free trial of your service. They will never deny. If they see good results from it they should signup.
    2) If you got budget, buy hoardings in prime locations.
    3) If you don't have much budget, distribute flyers(Pay someone to do it)
    4) Hire a hot sales girl and tell her to make the calls, fix appointments and close the sale. They convert better.
    5) A sneaky way to get a client is to visit them as a customer. Slowly pitch your service and handle your business card to them. This converts since you won't come out as a guy who is trying to sell.

I think you are putting the cart before the horse.

I do not think you know local SEO.

Have you done any keyword research for SEO terms in your community? The easiest way to get clients i to rank for terms in your own community. Keyword research will show you keywords that people do nt target, and then you can target them and rank rather easily.

This way when you see potential customer, you can say "google this" and you come up on top. He need not know that it is an easy keyword.

By the way, you also do that for your customers too, bring in the easy ones that they can rank for quickly to get traffic started.

How do you know that "local seo in (city + state)" is the term to target? Why are you targeting one term?

Do you know the difference between Local SEO and global SEO?

Do you know how to do citations?

Do you know what LSI is?

Do you know how to do on page SEO? How long the title is supposed to be, what goes where, how to write a proper description? Do you know that a local business should have their phone number at the end of these description and why?

Do you know how to implement heading tags in the onpage?

    Know what siloing is?

    Link sculpting?

When to use no foll or do foll?

Do you know the required pages that a local site needs to have to score well with search engines?

Do you understand how dangerous it is to build links to a local site?

To you know how to acquire reviews?

Do you know what NAP is and why schema is so important?

Do you know Local SEO, because the fundamental element of SEO is keyword research, and you have not done that yet, so I have my doubts.

I am not trying to dissuade you in your efforts, I am trying to hit you with a dose of reality. Once you get this contract, you have to implement it.

Do you have a written contract? A proposal sheet?

Lets say I hire you for my landscaping company.

What do you do the first month to start SEOing my site?

If you can't answer that I suggest you find someone with a small business and do SEO very cheap with the understanding that you are learning, or rank your own site. You have to show them something.

If you wait until you have a client then come on this forum and ask how to do the SEO, your client is in big trouble.

I do not find this to be the case. I find it is over saturated with incompetent providers.

The problem for the customer is distinguishing between the two.
