Hi,

So I have been selling on eBay for a few years now. I am at the point where I am selling over $25,000 worth of electronics each month through the site. I opened the account when I was under 18 and I had to use a false date of birth. I sold on the site for quite a while and I am doing very well right now. I started this business in order to pay for college. I am 18 now. PayPal just sent me an email requesting that I provide them my SSN, a Photo ID, and Proof of Address.

I am very concerned with what I should do. I currently have over $18,000 worth of inventory that I am in the process of selling. This is my college education money! I want to keep selling, as I have been very successful so far. Do I just come clean to PayPal and hope that they forgive me?

Thanks!

Coming clean would most likely freeze your account. If I were in your shoes, I'd photoshop the Id to the dob you gave them. Blah blah, not ethical, yadda yadda. Screw that, it's your money. If you don't want to have to wait several months, I'm not sure you have another option. :-/

Well, paypal won't do anything to your account but how is it linked to your ebay? I mean,if you provide the right ssn and details to paypal, why do you think that your ebay account is at risk :s

If they shut down my PayPal account, they won't let me open another one. I have to use PayPal to sell on eBay.

You could have used a stealth account but still its risky. If you need some editing on that docs, let me know. I'll help you out

Argh. This is so stressful for me. I've done so well and I've come so far and then I apply for a PayPal debit card and they reject the application and then require all of this. Any other advice for me?

Stealth account is a fake account that you could use to sell in eBay. Then just transfer the profit at your main account but as i said, risky. I have some semi-stealth accounts available with a payoneer debit card.

Keep holding into the line. There's no problem in this world that can't be solved. Hit me up what do they need

The best solution would be calling up paypal and telling them that the birthdate you put up was wrong or it was by mistake. Not a big deal, just explain them that you will put in the right details now.

I agree with Marusia. Photoshop your ID to match the DOB and every other detail you gave them. If you don't know how, hire a Photoshop guru to do it for you. Either way, it'll solve your problem.

I just feel real awful because I've been recognized on many large levels for my business and I am currently paying a branding company $6,000 to help expand my business. Thanks all for the support! It really does help me out!

Hello,

Good luck I hope it all works out for you. I know this may sound cheesy but take a deep breath and picture the outcome you are seeking. After that, take the steps needed to provide pp what they want.

So this was triggered by you applying for the pp debit card? Remind me to leave that card alone.

Just remember you haven't done any thing wrong just put the wrong birthdate. This can happen for many reasons. hint hint.

Hey I am sorry their giving you so much trouble. It seems to me that the Paypal debit card
is nothing but trouble. I will run like hell away from it personally. If worse comes to worse open
a ebay stealth account. Hey, remember you should change the info on your ebay account to match
your new paypal stealth account so that you do not have 18,000 USD sitting in a frozen paypal account.
That would suck ! Also remember to clear your flash cookies. Regular browsers will not clear them and it
is how ebay tracks you...Use cccleaner it is free to download and will clear everything. I have used it and love
it!

Good luck and let us know how it is going.
