    Hey guys,

I am giving a shot at website flipping, but it's my first time trying this.
And I've seen before what kind of pain in the ($?&* it is to transfer a "domain" only...

So I was wondering how do you guys proceed for transfering your websites & domains ?

Fastest easiest and safest solutions are welcome !
And I am sure this could help many people here too.. tons of info on how to flip a site.. but how the heck to proceed after that ?

    thanks a lot

if i were in a position like you where i didn't know how to transfer my sites, i'd do one of a few things:

    1. stipulate you will not transfer and the mate must.
    2. host the site on a reseller account to which you give them the account access to under the condition of point number 1 for a period of 1-2 weeks. Or they can buy hosting from you and everyone stays where they are at.
    3. note that if you are to move the site/files, the charge is an extra x-dollars...then go hire someone else to do it for less and you still profit even more. =D

^^^What he said. Pushing everything over can be a real pain in the ass and many buyers are like a kid waiting for their new Christmas present after they've paid their money for their new site so you can't drag your heels. Have your preferred transfer methods clearly outlined in your sales threads and stipulate that while you're open to other methods, you're not responsible for setting everything up yourself (you'll likely get troubleshooting emails for weeks afterwards if you let buyers walk all over you).

I had thought about giving him on a reseller and offering hosting for x$

But how can I ask him to do all the transfer things if its my domain and my site for example ?

And how to find "someone else" to hire to do the transfer ? you mean go through something like sedo.com ?

    Thanks

Yeah i will definitely define my terms clearly in the sales page.. but what transfer method are you talking about.

That's my point.. HOW do we proceed o transfer a website.. ? what service or Not ? etc etc..

Sorry if I look like a retard man.. I just want to get it down right !

    Thanks

All of my money online is made from selling websites and domains.

To push a domain you need to look for something like "transfer ownership" in your admin control panel.

To send someone a website, just zip up your directory, and send it as an email attachment. They should be fine from there.

More details on what exactly you want to know may yield better answers.

you push or transfer your domain via wherever you buy/control your domains [where you update nameservers....]

It's not your site anymore when you sell it so it's up to them to find out how to transfer it if you stipulate such in your thread/page. Just give them access to the cpanel and let them move from there. Delete the account after the week or two you give them and it's no big, yeh? Zipping the files as suggested will work too; what kind of site are u trying to sell though?

someone else like a freelancer from scriptlance or getafreelancer and the like. or heck ask on dp or a forum

I personally think site flipping isn't that valauble. I would stay away from it as a whole right now.

Then you don't know how to flip!

Not to be a jerk but I make more flipping websites than alot of people make at "normal" jobs - almost double what I made at my old job.

Flipping is a hard science to "master" .. once you have learned how to do it, it's gold.

Maybe I'll make an info product or something on the ins and outs of flipping/domaining.

    Thanks a lot guys,
I've also figured how to export my wordpress blog (using the EXPORT button...DUH!)
    and I was wondering.. :

would it be a bad idea to SPECIFY that the buyer must have a godaddy account so I can push the domain ?
Do I risk making less money because the buyer MUST have a godaddy ?

    thanks

I'll throw in my 2 cents here - just did a flip last week and made a quick $300 profit.

I think moving the files (since mine are WP blogs) is a pain in the ass so I just buy a baby $4.95 package at hostgator (I think you can use free trial as a coupon code). Anyway, it's a lot easier for me as I just pay $4.95 for one month, send the seller the login details so they have file access and push the domain to them.

Yeah stay away it's "worthless" since I only made $15,000 selling just one small website.

Or just shut up unless you know what the hell you're talking about.

it all depends what sites you are flipping and how good you are with them. I used to flip proxy sites, its just pocket change but i lked it. It was easy for me since all i did was bring traffic into it change the template and then sell it back. Now if you are doing bigger sites then its like another whole different game. Its like real estate, the same shit only with websites.

Just keep in mind that "Websites are overseen assets"
