That has trouble keeping track of all my accounts, usernames, passwords, etc. How the heck do you guys do it between all of the different sites, and emails, and panels, and ;;;;;;; whatever else is out there. Do you just keep a notepad file of all of your usernames and passes or is there some better method because I am CONSTANTLY retrieving passwords

Use an excel spreadsheet.. Or google docs spreadsheet if you want to access it anywhere

If you want the easiest way, use an app called roboform

I am beginning to learn that IM really IS a job, when before I thought it would be fairly automatic. I could easily spend 8-12hrs a day doing it, just like a "real" job! Much respect to you experienced guys, this is NOT easy work!

I would say the best method would be an excel spreadsheet. I use notepad with no problems but excel would be more efficient.

I just have 2 or 3 user names I use on everything and then with those 2 or 3 user names I have 2 or 3 different passwords. Most of them I can remember easily but some I have to try different passwords till I have success. I don't recommend leaving passwords within a text file in your computer... anyone could gain access.

i just save all my emails in a text file
I use the same username for every single site
Same password for everything (except my "real" shit)
    same recovery answer

    Simple!

Roboform. Just one click and I'm in. It also alphabetizes everything for me, saving me from a tedious task I would never end up doing with a notepad file.

I have a text file for my gazzilion ids. What i do is try and group similar ids like for social bookmarking networks I'll use names that start with "je" for youtube I use "gi" you get the point.
The first two letters make the search a little more easy. All I have to do really is ctrl + f and then the two alphabets

I also keep a notebook of master key.....;-)

Excel spreadsheet using the tabs for different sites, saved on a hard drive and thumb drive, emailed daily to a gmail account and also saved on box.net daily.

All of those can't go bad on one day.

Preparation for anything is something I learned with Six Sigma.

I use firefox plugin call Last Password. I have already forgotten most of my pass and have formatted my PC many times but my passwords are all still there.

im using iMacros for Firefox ,you can record a task and save it on your firefox bookmarks.
so with only 1 click it will type the site on the address bar, login and go to any page you set on this site .

    Code:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3863
its always good to save a text file with your login details out of your pc.

This is exactly what I do - google docs and looking into roboform - but purly for automating link posting...

Also OP try out "Xmarks" for firefox, have all your bookmarks anywhere you use it (I LOVE having the same bookmarks in Firefox @ home and @ work!)

I concur - Roboform FTW, it encrypts your passwords and you can carry it on a usb stick.

Supposedly beats alot of keyloggers too because you're not actually typing in all your passwords so no keystrokes.

Anyone can crack excel passwords and get all of your accounts if you lose your laptop or get infected with a trojan.

And it supports google chrome finally!

Im using "Password Memory 2010". The database can be protected by a master password, you can keep it on an USB. i haven't had any problem with it yet, i used to do a lot of pw recovery before i started using this
