I just thought that I would say that I love my friends who are in the military right now ( and there are a lot of them ).
    They are good people.
I'm sure you know one like them. Very young kids....
I hope that might watch this.............

I won't comment on the war situation, as not to break the forum rules about politics, but there's nothing quite as touching as a military funeral.

But the reason I posted is that this is not political at all. It's a human story..........

Oh yeah I know, was just trying to do a "preemptive strike" on anyone considering thinking of hijacking this thread for political or anti-war rantings ;)

    Jason,

    Thanks for the reminder.

We all need to remember and consider our men and women in the military, especially if we are a citizen of a country at war. The sacrifices made are often overlooked, quietly heroic and very much appreciated.

Regardless of anyone's political hue around here (I'm deep blue in the US), I've an abiding gratitude for those who would put themselves in harm's way in the service of my government and my country.

    I wasn't. Merely commenting.

I appreciated the ... appreciation of our deployed troops.

I just watched this movie tonight, it's pretty good. I've been to a few military funerals, including my grandfather's funeral last month and funerals for two very good friends that died in Iraq. Unless you've been to one, you can't really appreciate how much effort & attention to detail they put into these things. It's incredibly sad & inspiring at the same time.

I've seen too many funerals since 2003. When will it end?

Yah. I posted this before the movie came out. I have seen it since then. It is really something. Few movies that I watch leave me 100% speechless. My friend watched it with me and at the end niether of us said a thing for like 10 minutes. It was like "what could possibly be appropriate to say right now?"
I guess we were still taking it all in.
    Everyone should see this one.
By the way. If you did not watch the preview and are just reading this post. The movie is "Taking Chance" by HBO. It is on demand if you have it.

Essential, I feel your pain and inspiration as well. My grandfather's funeral was around 2 months ago, he was a Mayor for the Air Force in Colombia and while the funeral was very sad, it was spectacular and ever so touching seeing those men give my grandfather such an honorable farewell.
