I recently tried to purchase a .ca domain from godaddy and I'm located in canada. It said "couldn't verify location" when I tried to register and buy it.
Do you know how this works? and what I can do to show I'm canadian. I thought my i.p would say it

I'm Canadian and for purchase the domain name .CA through godaddy or any other register you must agree and be registered with CIRA . It's simple and easy and once you verified your location you will never have the problem. Go into godaddy support site, and seach about ca. domain name..There is requirements and how you can register..Once you complete this steps you are good to go...I can not post link as new member. If you still need help let me know..

How to register a .CA domain

    1. Check the availability of your .CA domain name by typing the name you want into the domain search box above.
    2. Select a domain name from the available options.
    3. Specify your preferred language, registrant name, and legal type. Read and accept the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) agreement.
    4. Complete your registration.
    5. If you didn't accept the CIRA agreement during registration, you'll receive an email directing you to CIRA where you will validate your registrant information (new registrants only).
    6. Once your account is approved by CIRA, you can log in to My Account>My Products on Go Daddy to use your new .CA domain name.
    7. CAdomain names are available to Canadian citizens and businesses, organizations, and community groups located in Canada.

No, you can not purchase any other country domain if you are not resident. Some country will allow that - small country that does not have online presence. For example that was the case with .tv domains......everyone was able to register domain from the Island of Tuvalu and they become TLD for Television instead.

I been in domain business for over 15 years, and yes there is restrictions for certain types of domain. I'm not going to write a book here. Just want to clarify any confusions.

try domainka instead of godaddy, They have a good list of domain names on that site than anywhere else.
