Well it has happened! I just had the manual penalty reversed and I didn't have to pay someone to do it for me! It's SIMPLE!

Sell your soul and use the disavow tool!!!

Put some effort in to it though! If you don't have a majesticSEO account, find someone who does and export ALL your domains backlinks.

Next format that list in to disavow format.

I tried this the first time without adding any details and tried blaming it on my SEO guy. That was rejected. I tried it the 2nd time with a list from majesticSEO along with details about how I removed all the backlinks I could, and contacted all the web admins via whois and contact forms.

I disavowed EVERY url pointing to my site.

I submitted the updated disavow and a nice paragraph about my "efforts" to remove these backlinks. I didn't guilt them or apologize, I just stated that I worked hard and did my best. This was on the 15-16th...fast forward to today and the penalty has been removed and ranking is already coming back! Some are already front page again!

Now I get to rebuild some non sape links to it and watch it rank top 3 again!

THERE IS HOPE....you just gotta sell your soul and do what Google wants in this case...disavow.

Yes I know it implies there are still penalties on the site, but my rankings went from pages 8-12 to first and 2nd page after this reconsideration! I had forgotten all about this site, but decided a month ago to try and remove the penalty. Good thing I did :p

Sorry if I am confused, but you disavowed every link and they responded that there are still links pointing to your site? There must still be some links floating around out there that Majestic didn't find. If I were you, I'd take another run with OpenSiteExplorer and Ahrefs and see if there are any still floating out there.

You are mistaking your link removal efforts for disavow.

The only way to remove an unnatural link penalty is to attempt to remove links and show evidence of that to Google.

My fasterst recovery for an unnatural link warning for a mates website was 3 months and showing proof to Google of link removal via Google drive document of work completed on link removal.

We then submitted a disavow based on those links that couldnt be removed.

Disavowing all links is dumb, can I have your domain if you do this? Thats telling Google to discredit your whole link profile so a website won't recover for that.

Again my offer stands mates, if anyone just wants to disavow all links let me have the domain first and I'll use it for good. Dont go and throw away a good thing.

There's no going back after submitting a disavow like that (and if they approved it)

It's weird lol...mainly because you are saying what I did doesn't work and it's stupid....yet it did work and my site has traffic again.

I've built 20+ sites since this one got hit. I tried to find the quickest way to remove the penalty and restore ranking, and this worked just fine.

I don't have time to filter through thousands of links lol, I just build new ones. This was simply a test to see if it was possible to remove the penalty and restore ranking without paying someone or spending a shit ton of time doing it.

    TO BE CLEAR:

THE RANKINGS HAVE RETURNED TO ALMOST WHAT THEY WERE BEFORE PENALTY.

Now I just gotta toss some juice to the domain and pages again and I'm sure it'll rank like before.

Also keep in mind the penalty was removed just hours ago and I'm already seeing great improvement in rankings...this will only get better in the next couple weeks.

So soapbox about being tedious and methodical when disavowing, or just disavow em all and rebuild. It literally took me 10-15 minutes to export the majesticSEO report, format it, and write a paragraph for the reconsideration and one to include with the disavow.

    Sorry for the confusion

    Let me clear that up:

First time I just exported the links that GOOGLE WMTs showed me. Formatted it in to a disavow, and told google I'm trying my hardest to fix the problem. They quickly denied that request.

The second time around I exported all the links from MajesticSEO, formatted them all in to disavow, and I also included some white lies about trying my hardest to contact all the websites for URL removals. I also included many did not reply , but I will continue to reach out to them. With this attempt they removed the penalty, and my rankings have returned to almost where they were before the penalty.

To also be clear, all the sape links are gone and have been gone for a solid month or two.
