I got some backlinks and it's enough to be first on bing. My site is almost nowhere in Google, only on the third page. I think there is no black hat protection in Bing. They don't care about black hat SEO. More backlinks, better position. Google can ban any suspicious website. However it's useless because nobody using Bing. Maybe 4% of all searches. Only few visitors came to my website from Bing.

So in other words; everything that gets you kicked from the important search engine, works on the least important search engine. Got it.

I mean, bing isn't that strict compared to google. I used to advertise on bing (PPC) before and you can get away with anything sometimes.

However, you can't do that with google.

I wouldn't call it the least important search engine. After all, how many people do you know who are striving to rank for Yandex? :D

They are also less reluctant if you are doing PPC advertising via Bing.

Had the same experience with Bing - was trying to rank for a high volume & high competition keyword on Google and noticed my site was ranking #1 and #2 on Bing, but traffic was super low (less than 10 clicks on a non-seasonal keyword each month).

PPC advertising is probably worthwhile, since you're only paying for what you get - but there's a higher click-fraud rate on Bing because they don't police it so well.

bing traffic converts very nicely though, so don't write it off as completely worthless. If you can monitor your bing keywords that are ranking and identify the ones that are bringing in cash you can expand those into related terms.

Bing traffic converts. There is less traffic there sure, but it does bring in money and that money adds up to a huge sum over time, so don't be so quick to write off bing, their traffic is valuable and another good piece of the puzzle to have in place, especially when google is all over the place now.

In you're #3 on Bing I'd equate that to being #12 on Google from a traffic perspective.

There's definitely some money to be made on bing. I wouldn't go after it as my main organic source though. It's more like a side effect of doing google blackhat.

I usually move dead c&b sites to new domains, but I've left a few the way they are because they've been penalized in google for over a year now, but they still rank in bing #1 and bring in 30-70 uniques a day. Not much but it's an easy couple of hundred bucks each month and I never have to worry about them being "google slapped" again. Not in top 200 to not in top 500? It will still be #1 in bing. Requires no work from me and no maintenance.

All these people saying ranking in bing is worthless, I would urge you to do some research on it. You are leaving money on the table. I have two sites that are just focused on bing becuase as the OP said, it is incredibly easy to churn sites to the top.

One of the things that contributes to the longevity of your business is constant studying and reading. I have been working for myself for over 20 years, and things change constantly. Ongoing studying is a must. For anyone who is just starting out, study Bing demograpics and apply it's positive points to your niche. http://www.aborg.com/2014/08/google-vs-bing-which-one-are-your-customers-using/ With that said, Bing kicks ass for my niche. Love it.

Well since Christ, Rabbit and Rubies put it this way I won't deny the potential of Bing (or Yahoo.) It's nowhere near the level of Google and that's all I implied. Bing and Yahoo rankings are like side-effects of Google rankings...and apparently can exist without Google ranks at all.

Side-effect... Google has nothing to do with Bing / Yahoo rankings.

I tried bing and yahoo for PPC and Churn & burn ranking
in both cased there was pretty good traffic.
only difference is in keyword research. Some keywords that have a lot of searches on google have low volume on bing and yahoo
I would say its definitely worth ranking there, but you have to do your Kw research according to them and not according to google

Getting traffic from bing in Europe is like finding water in the desert......
