EDIT: I had to post a SECOND video as proof, as apparently there are some that simply don't believe it's possible that I wanted to give credit to the two that helped me make that 12k or simply don't believe it's possible to sell a site for that much. I put this in "site flipping" but thought that it would go rather well in the lounge. Two reasons:
1: Because I'm damn happy about making twelve grand by selling a website 2: For some reason, when I posted it in "site flipping" it doesn't show up on the main page of BHW and the two members that helped me make that 12k deserve a VERY public thank you.
I catch a lot of flack from my fiance about how much time I spend here on BHW. I get a lot of "You could be doing something a lot more productive than sitting there talking to a bunch of people on the internet!" & as a full time IM'er sometimes she is actually right. However, it's stories like this that I get to take back to her and rub in her face (you know, in a loving kind of way).
You see, by networking here on BHW and taking time to make sure others knew that I'm a stand up guy by being a productive member, I was able to get to talking to two incredible members of BHW. I know that they are not only great people to have as friends, but also (and in this case almost more importantly), great business people. I know this because of a deal we just finished up not too long ago. That deal was having them sell a website of mine. I'll start the story by giving you the ending:
I just cashed a check from Escrow.com for $12,000.00 USD. That is the amount they sold my website for!
Now, I had heard that these guys knew their stuff when it came to selling websites. The products they sell are all about how to sell websites. However, there are a lot of people that say they can do things and then there are those that can actually do it. Well ladies and gents, these guys can not only do it, but they take it to a whole different level. Keep in mind, I didn't use their products, they brokered the sale of my site. That means I was completely "hands off" during the entire process. The thing is, if these guys can take my site and come back with twelve grand, imagine what information they are selling in their products!
They made it incredibly simple to get the ball rolling. I hopped onto Skype and had a conversation with the two of them. I went over my site, it's earnings, it's traffic sources, traffic volume & provided them proof of all of the above. They then gave me their "appraisal" as to the value of the site, how long it would take them to sell it & what to expect during the process. Then we made an agreement that they had exclusivity to sell the site for 30 days. That's everything in a nutshell. Using Flippa.com was out of the question, as my site wasn't able to be listed on Flippa due to their ToS. These two had to use more creative methods to sell my site...and they did it!
What's even more incredible is this. My site wasn't garbage. It had great earnings, great traffic volume, etc, etc, but it was still a very tough sell due to the nature of the site and how it made it's earnings. It isn't illegal or anything, it is just a site that certainly had to take some serious knowledge of getting a website sold to actually get it sold and at the right price.
If you're looking to have the sale of your website brokered by two MORE than capable individuals, I seriously suggest you talk to these two. In fact, I don't suggest it, I'm telling you to. You're going to lose money if you don't. If you're looking to learn about how to "flip" websites so you can sell them yourself, I again am telling you to at least look at their products. I don't have them so I can't review them personally, but I can tell you this:
Based on the fact that they took my website that COULDN'T be sold on Flippa (which is what they specialize in) and STILL not only sold my site but for twelve thousand dollars to boot, I can only imagine the information that is contained in them.
I wrote this up because those two deserved a public thank you for not only doing an incredible job, but doing it professionally, holding themselves to their agreement & just generally raising the bar to a level that everybody doing business should try to reach.
