I just dont get it

One of my new recent niches has a low comp and 1600-5000 exact monthly searches a month.

I basically found all the backlinks my competitors have and put my link on the same sites.. even more sites!.

I have a pr2 website and I just cant seem to rank it.

my backlinks are like double the amount of my competitors and 80% are all quality.

I was able to rank all my other sites.. although I ranked them well over 2 years ago. Has it just became this much harder to rank new stuff?

Backlinks are not the only factor in ranking.

Look at your on-site SEO, your site age, etc.

I have seen Google favoring aged sites recently.

and you should wait, it can take up to 3 weeks for googel to crawl your backlinks and also you can never see all backlinks of your competitior
 
on page is 100%..

all my pages are. And It does seem like all the older sites just outrank everything else.. shit there is one site that is just a empty wordpress page with NO content and it ranks #3?!?!
 
Have you done some detailed comparison of the content you're putting on your site versus your competitor's site? Compare text, images, video. Also look at their social media presence (Twitter/FB accounts, etc) and see if they're outgaming you somewhere here.

You can also use archive.org to see when they first put their site up, because the older their site is the more credibility it has with Google compared to a brand new site.
 
Does your competitor's site look better or navigate better than yours? How much content do they have in comparison to your site's content? Are they active in social media?

Break down their assets and duplicate/improve on what seems to be working for them.

These two stand out to me. A 15 year old EMD with constant new content and visitors added to the forum. The guy probably wasn't affected by the EMD update as he had age and authority. He's probably rooted to the top because of those two factors. Not saying that it's impossible to knock him off the top, but the age of the domain has to play a significant role.
 
well I dont expect to beat him. But the single page wordpress site? cmon..

Thing is all my sites I ever worked on I owned for years. This new site I got is the first site I tried to rank in a long time.. All my others already rank and I just keep them steady in the position they are at.

I guess things changed I dunno. Maybe I am an old dog not used to doing new tactics?
 
Mate, I'm in the same boat as you. I sit here day by day scratching my head wondering what else I can do to grab those extra few spots upwards. It's a fucking mystery. Do you go all out attack, or do you sit back and baby feed your precious site? I've felt heartache and lost income from each direction. Sometimes it feels that no matter what you do you're fucked either way. Just keep plugging on dude. Eventually something will rule in your favour and things will work out.
