I went on Copyscape today and discovered a ton of web pages using my content, i am currently ranking #19 for my keyword and was wondering, if i get fresh new content, would it hurt my rankings? I don't want to have content other people are now using. Feedback is much appreciated.

I would add fresh content but leave your current content alone. Maybe add some good quality links to your existing articles to help establish yourself as the authority above the copiers

Yes, you could do with fresh new content. But again, there is no guarantee it would not similarly end up being copied.

The good news is that sites that display copied content are ranked lower than the site that created it. Google knows what was published when and by who.

So go ahead and send a DMCA request as the Pink Panther suggested AND a Legal Removal Request over at Google (https://support.google.com/legal/answer/3110420?hl=en). That will remove the copycats completely.

Fresh new content wouldn't hurt your rankings. It may even help your rankings instead. Even if others would copy your content again, Google would know who came first. So basically, the only thing you need to worry is how to increase your rank.

Fresh content won't hurt your rankings at all.

Just leave it as is if it's ranking. Increase your backlinks and you should rank higher than #19

Yeah, I agree with the consensus here. I wouldn't replace the copied articles, but would certainly add some fresh content. You could go after the other sites using some of the methods suggested, but it seems as if Google is recognizing your as the original.

Are you using rss feeds? You might wanna try a delay of 1 day before your content gets delivered by rss.

If you have a good backlink strategy and a good standing domain there should not be a problem, content has a minor effect on your whole SEO, fresh content will not give you a higher ranking, it is better to ad some high TF links to that innerpage

I think the general consensus here is having fresh content is good. Don't worry about being plagiarize but instead build your links so that you would improve your rankings.

I would initially try to get them to link back as it will show you have the original and will only help your rankings. If they ignore you could do a DMCA if you can be bothered to put the effort in to that.

Adding content will always be a good thing though, no need to remove the old content at all. Do not remove the content otherwise you are basically providing content for other people, just build on what you have to get more traffic and better rankings.
