I just bought an expired domain. Should I use 301 or make a single landing page and link my main business?

Which way should I go with?

  • Option 1 - 301 re-direct

  • Option 2 - Single page website with a link to my main website

Hello All,

I just bought a domain that has just a few backlinks (normal authority) but its name is something like this - Texas plumbing service.

Since my client is in the plumbing industry and that too in Texas, I thought this could be a good option. How should I proceed with the setup?

Option 1- Should I put 301 redirects? But this way, if someone searches for Texas plumbing company on Google, this domain won't show up.

Option 2 - I create a single-page WordPress website, put some content, and then link my main website. This will be at least indexed, I can make some backlinks. But in this option, I will compete with my own business for "Texas plumbing service" and related keywords.

TIA.

With Google´s latest update on 301 expired domains it is really to early to answer your questions yet, no one really knows at this point.

Business as usual. Google has been saying forever expired domains will be worthless.

It won't work after recent update. You can't even build website on expired domain.

Google recent update was about expired domain. So, It is risky.
