Alright, this is my first time posting in this forum so if I say anything stupid or if I am posting in the wrong section then I want to say sorry in advance. Try not to be to dick headish about it.

Anyways, currently I used an index tool located located below to index my domain to 3000 different directory sites. I added meta tags to my site and I changed the description for each of the main pages. I am now wondering what the next step to take is?

    HTML:

The domain below is my web design gallery that I am trying to get ranked. I still need to create an about us page so that I can add keywords into the text and everything but I wanted to get some input before I took any further actions.

    HTML:
    http://www.designthump.com/
I also plan on making a custom view information page (as you may have been able to tell by the links) where each site has it's own profile. I plan to add tags on that page for added keywords along with a paragraph about the site and a comment section so people may comment on the site.

You submitted to the directories, it doesn't mean you are indexed yet until you can find your exact domain in google. usually takes a couple days.

Well, I know that. I'm just wondering what I should do next to improve how I get ranked? Should I still be creating more backlinks? Should I be writing a couple of "press releases"? Should I continue improving the content of my website? I'm currently at a stand still on trying to optimize the site and I am wondering if I should be taking further actions or if I should just wait and see what happens before I do anything else.

Oldhat here trying to find a nice fitting white one (so my advice is aged a bit).

    You need CONTENT! Critical.

The site's focus is a bit unclear to me as well. Are you trying to be a sort of hub for people to talk about web design and bounce ideas off of? Or is it a site with just your opinion?

Either way, my approach would be to start small and invite people to post web designs with their own reviews and let them have easy front page exposure. You can then give your expert advice to those submitted designs with your opinion. As your foundation settles you can then transform it into a forum (make sure you have the numbers in place first). Or you can make those submissions that get accepted more prestigious somehow and get user generated article content or something along those lines.

I am driving user-generated content/ideas down ur throat so much because a design inspiration based site would thrive from it.

This is just a web design gallery. Much like the ones below.

    HTML:
    http://www.cssblaze.com/
    HTML:
    http://bestwebgallery.com/
    HTML:
    http://www.csselite.com/
    HTML:
    http://www.webcreme.com/
Basically, the site just showcases good web designs so that web designers can gather ideas for a website they may be creating or else they can look at the source code and see how they coded something out. Lots of things web designers can use the site for.

As for the content I plan on doing what I said above. Adding a comment system so that users can give their thoughts on the site and I will create a profile page for each of the websites while giving a brief description about the designer, the websites content, what code it uses, etc.

Once your site has a lot of great content, submit it to Dmoz in the proper categories with non spammy descriptions until it gets accepted. Once it makes you $300, spend every penny on the Yahoo directory. In the meantime, do some press releases and article writing. Get some profile backlinks. Do some blog commenting. Whatever you have to do to get links going to your site. Remember that you will likely want to outsource backlinking to your own backlinks in the future.

There's a very useful "all about backlinks" post in the backlinks section.
