Last month I started a blog centered around reviewing products in hopes that some visitors will convert via my Amazon affiliate links. I have taken the time to write my own detailed blog posts and build a variety of backlinks (such as social bookmarks/wikis/directories and tier 2 blog comments/trackbacks) as well as get a few social shares, but so far, I have yet to see a single visitor even arrive at a product review page. My blog is relatively new (about a month old at this point), so I'm obviously not expecting to have hundreds of visitors overnight, but I believe that the quality of my posts and the SEO I have done so far should have at least attracted a few people to my product reviews.

    What am I doing wrong?

hang in there and keep doing what you are doing. Utilize social media to drive traffic. Join groups on FB and communities in G+.
Also build quality backlinks and not just crap. Otherwise you will probably be doing more damage then good.

With new sites it takes a lot of patience.

Did you ranking for any keyword? Normally new sites takes few months time to rank. I recommend to add more content. Also don't build links too fast.

It depends... What is the difficulty of the keywords you are targeting? Also, you could use tumblr for traffic. Start a blog, post pictures of the products you are promoting under related tags, and link them to your review posts. It should drive some traffic over time.
