Aweber, it's not really cheap but it's very stable and do the job correctly!

Tried some free sh*ts but it really didn't work at all (and if you're building a list you really want it to work !!!)

    Cheers,

I have used Aweber and Getresponse, Aweber is definitely better. It is more user freindly than Getresponse, and has more features.

At one time I liked Getresponse but some time in the last year they made a lot of changes that were not for the better.

I use 1shoppingcart. Its a little more expensive then aweber, but it allows for a bigger list size with out having to upgrade unlike aweber so the cost difference equals out after you grow a huge list.

Your list will be your most important asset. Don't be temped by free services or self-hosted scripts....Just use Aweber!

I had a self-hosted autoresonder script when I first started. Had about 15,000 double optins. I was only able to deliver about 50%. My hosting provider moved my account from one server to another. Everything crashed and I lost my list. He said don't worry....everything was backed up before the move. Well....his backup failed. And me.....my backup was corrupted, I was able to extract bits and pieces but for the most part lost my entire list.

I switched to aweber about 4 years ago. Service is good. Delivery is great. Never did rebuild the big list though :(

I was going to switch to GetResponse. Glad I didn't. Everyone I know wishes they would have either stayed with Aweber or just went with them to start.

    First choice Aweber.

    Second choice GetResponse.

A good alternative may be mailchimp. They let you start with a free list (under 500) and will only begin to charge you when your list grows. By then you should have enough to cover the list costs.
