    Hey,

I got myself a VPS for $0.99/month (offer at that moment) that comes w 64MB ram 2gb space and 10gb bandwidth I think

but I don't know what to do with it,besides I'm not a linux person...I know how to operate a shared host but VPS...

    I'm kind of unfamiliar

if there's any tutorial or idea what should I do w this vps please share

Is this for real? You are telling us that you bought "a computer" and don't know what to do with it and how to use it..wrong forum bro..

I simply don't understand ppl who are buying something only because its cheap.. why did you buy it if you don't know whats it for and how to operate it.. (google is your best friend in such basics questions)

The best thing i can advise you is to install trillion autosurf programs and after a year you will have few bucks in your pocket..

Sometimes i think BHW is worser than DP :)

Where did you get a VPS for 99 cents? The host should have some help files and tutorials to get you started with a VPS setup

Yeah, don't worry about it. I snatch up domains like this all the time, for fun and (possible) future profit.

You're going to spend a lot of precious time mucking around.

Use that time to make some money.

I used to do this a long time ago....never again. Take off running and make cash. Let someone else deal with the server headaches. All I need is cpanel.

this isn't too different from those who grab *every* ebook they can find, just in case it may have some good info. :p

now that alexa no longer permits domain scanning, the only thing that will happen is a lot of
people will stop collecting ebooks they'll never read. :D :D :D

get aquainted with ssh and ssh commands, putty, installing php modules like zend, ioncube, creating accounts, copying accounts and installing scripts, as well as looking at logs and setting up your firewall not to mentions backups

all useful stuff when you have a vps if you are using whm also look at whmextra too

Where did you get this VPS ?
You could use it for Private Proxy.

they still have vps for $5. a month, but prices that low make me very wary.
seems there is no control panel unless you go for the platinum offer.

With 64Mb RAM you won't get cpanel on there - that takes min 256Mb on its own.
I have a small VPS that has apache ans SSH running, with cron and that takes 32Mb RAM

Proxy, code testing or a small static site - take your pick :)

It would be easier to answer if you told us what you *want* to do with it.

It has been pointed out that you probably don't have a control panel (Plesk, CPanel). Can you tell us if this is the case?

Get a free ftp program like filezilla and learn to upload files. I don't recommend learning ssh yet, it is just too much for you at this point, unless you want to get a good linux book and learn geeky stuff. In that case, you can do all the command line stuff you want on your vps.

You can also put multiple domains on it and use it for email. If you need lots of addresses from different domains, you have a real cheap way of doing it.

i have my own ftp programs, file managers and transloaders, so i may take them up on this just to see what it's all about. 64mb of ram isn't much, but
it would be fun to play with a cheap vps just for the learning! :p
