Okay first of all I'm not an idiot I know that views aren't the only factor in ranking a video on YouTube. When I say my video isn't ranking in the top 100, I mean the top 100 YT search results for my keyword, which my title exactly matches.

My video has 100k+ High Retention views bought from BST, likes, keyword rich comments, keyword rich description, the channel has subscribers, no backlinks yet. The keyword I'm targeting has very little competition (the 2nd video in the results has 123 views, and 1 like - no backlinks). Some extra details:

    - I've had this video on YouTube for 4 months with 1000 views before sending the 100k high retention views.
    - This video isn't my own, I ripped it from a website (this i suspect is the most likely reason for my unsuccessful ranking, but not sure...)
    - Said video isn't ranking on YT at all in top 100, however is the 39th result in Google for this keyword!? Weird.

Hopefully other people using similar tactics to me can learn from this and any experience/advice is appreciated, if you need to know any further details let me know.

Two things stuck out to me, 1. No Backlinks (this is the most important for ranking high within yt), 2. Bought views. (Everyone says that YT cannot detect but I assure they have been working on finding fake views).

Now that you have it ranked and lots of views work on backlinking it and let natural views come in, i assure you will climb up in rank quick... best

I'd recommend some Fiverr link pyramids to it.

How long ago did you put the 100k views on? Maybe YouTube hasn't refreshed itself yet, just search the video ID and see if your video says 100k or 1k. Also where have these views come from? If they are direct & mobile views then they probably wont help your rankings - even if they are retention views.

To be honest I've never used backlinks to rank my videos and I've been ranking them to page 1 with highly competitive keywords. Just go for a natural look - steady views, likes, comments, favourites - it will be even better if your views are referred from social media sites and they have a high retention %.

You said you ripped it from a website, does this mean that there are exactly the same videos on YouTube? If this is the case then it will affect your ranking. YouTube and Google rank things based on a "better customer experience" - so why would they rank exactly the same videos on page 1 - they don't want duplicated videos as the first 10 results.

So, remember - quality over quantity. Making your own videos can be easy if you just need to screen record your computer. Use FastStone Capture and a recording device and make your own videos - then you have unique content, plus you can submit a copyright complaint if someone rips yours.

    Hope this helps.
