My site has been making $3000/month on autopilot between direct advertising and adsense. My best month on adsense was just over $1000. My traffic is tanking, my advertiser pulled out and now I'm only making $400/month on adsense. What are some methods I can use to get back to where I was?

Start looking into other forms of traffic and monetizing. Social media traffic can be a lot more reliable and if you end up selling the site, people would bid more for that kind of security. Also try out places like commission junction and clickbank offers to see if you can make the same amout of money with less traffic.

You can try other advertisers. Another option is to provide some discount to the old customer. You can also try websites that act as mediators for banner ads.

Yes, I am losing to competitors who are knocking out of the SERP's. I became complacent and did not continue adding content and working off-page SEO. I spent some time this weekend to start climbing SERP's again. I was ranking #1 through #10 for many of my keywords. Now I'm at #10 for only one keyword. The rest are all over the map with many #100+.

The advertiser switched to an affiliate structure from a pay-per click agreement. I updated all my links to affiliate links for their site today, so we'll see how that goes.

I agree. I do consider myself lucky. The timing of the niche I got into and the methods used were a perfect storm. One WordPress plugin that sent me boat loads of traffic was the SEO Search Terms plugin. I got 100,000's of pages indexed, however, most point to a "No Results" search page. This cannot be a good long term strategy. I am now focusing on building content around the most popular "No Results" search page that have been index.

Your strategy seems viable. I would go one step further. If any of the most popular searches are terms of any consumer products, then attempt to register as an affiliate and promote that product. In addition, if any of the terms pertain to any health problems, attempt to discover any products that you could promote and insert the link in your post.

If you play your cards right, you might be able to generate a respectable sum of money.

If you got a lot of duplicate content and pages with no content on them indexed, I'd focus on getting those deindexed by noindexing them to make it appear as if your site is improving quality-wise. I'd also start some conservative linkbuilding

I would recommend adding more content and search for more advertisers also. Do more effort to get traffic from social media.

Very good advice. I have contemplated registering affiliate accounts for the popular searches. Given my current situation, I feel this will be a good play.

The idea about "health problems" is interesting. That is a great method. Thank you for sharing.

I am working on some more content using services from BHW and Mechanical Turk. My content is a bit off-beat and I am debating my social media strategy. I know that a social media strategy is important and is dictating the present and future, I just cannot conceive a proper strategy given my content.

    Thanks for the feedback.

cant be too off beat content if its ok for adsense. Can i ask what kinda niche (broadly) your site is about?

Is it random content and images or all under the same niche?
