I was wondering if any of you guys can help me out here. I am not very tech savvy but, I am a blogger, who runs a news site that has been in google news for a few years. I use wordpress, and do the basic stuff, its my own wordpress theme that I bought, not a free one, The plug ins that I use are the google news sitemap or xml, and a cache to help with high traffic.

I noticed that a few months back my traffic started to die down, and I have a niche site. I cover automobile events such as Nascar and autonews.

Before I would have an article up on Nascar and would get massive traffic and earnings on Adsense, now my traffic has died and my earnings lowered. It seems that someone is taking my traffic. This is what someone told me on the google news forum that wordpress is easy to hack and people can redirect or steal your traffic easy especially high trending articles.

something similar to this also happened to me a few years ago, maybe 3 years ago I had a free wordpress theme, and all of a sudden something happened to my adsense earnings, I was getting high traffic, but only a few adsense clicks, than I found out someone was putting their adsense code, so I bought a theme instead of using a free one. it cleared it up and I was earning money.

Is there such a possibility that someone could be either stealing my content bringing my traffic down, or doing a redirect? Is there like some kinda alert that they add your site and it will alert you when a new article is posted and they can steal that article or traffic.

So just changed my theme, and than had the cache plugin to help with traffic and than I received a warning and my articles were removed it says google bot was blocked, I have a strong feeling someone is hacking my site or tampering with it, i removed the RSS feed, I disallowed anyone from registering, but I noticed I have a handful of people who were able to register as subscribers although I didn't allow it. Should I delete these guys and could they possibly be hacking me from the subscriber registration? Like steal traffic or content?

Contact your hosting provider and explain what you think is going on, and if they can help - if not you need to find someone and make sure they have good PHP skills to look for any dodgy backdoors in the wordpress code, and also good skills to login to where your wordpress is hosted and look for any intrusions in that area. Also they could look at installing .htaccess rules + configure the firewall on your host so that only certain ip addresses can connect from that perspective.
