    • I am a computer scientist and i've recent decided to join the fun the in affiliate marketing world (Blackhat of course). I have little experience with web design but i've played with wordpress here and there.
    • Ok, straight to the point. I have an account with bluehost and i am currently stuck at the screen to create a domain name for my niches. My question is whether i should create 1 broad domain name such as hacksandvideosdotcom and put various niche websites as /fightvideos, /ufcvideos, /moviestreaming, /instragrambots and etc.. i figured i can make multiple niche websites this way and only paying for 1 domain name.
    • In contrast, is it better to buy domain names for each niche for better profit long term?

Thanks, this is my first post so feel free to hammer me. I've tried searching, but 8 years worth of info is overwhelming so just help me out by getting me on my feet so i can have a specific path to follow and topics to search for.

Hi, welcome and good luck. Answers for you:

    1) Just choose a niche and don't get paralyzed with all the stuff that you're going to add to it. For now since you're very new, pick a micro-niche, master it and move to larger niches. So you might want UFCFightVideosdotcom instead of hacksandvideosdotcom/UFCFightVideos. Domains are very cheap, so start small and move up.

    2) Money-site domain purchases entirely depend on your link building approach. If you're just going to try to spam your way to the top for some keyword, then the domain won't matter as much as you've got a higher likelihood of being deindexed or banned. If you're doing a long-term play, then you should aim for a URL that can be branded and shared so that you can continue to monetize it.

Think about the difference between 24897xhjfhjfightvideos and TopNotchFightVideos - obviously one seems more legit than the other.

However, I DO think you're overanalyzing things to get going. Buy a domain, get a site up and start testing.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1

Thank you for the response kind sir. I never even thought about the whole deindexed or banned thing because i was planning to do some type of sports video page full of surveys and whatnot. But my long term niche are certain products on amazon for example vitamins. So for a long term strategy i was thinking of creating a domain name vitamins4youdotcom and linking affiliated links from amazon on there. Is this worth it?

If you're going to do content locking of videos or live streams, I wouldn't worry too much about the domain. Just pick something that sounds legit enough and get to work.

In regards to your vitamin thing, there are loads of Amazon affiliates making a ton of cash. Just note that you're going to make something like 7% per sale which might mean that you need a lot of traffic for it to pan out. If you stick around long enough to become Jr. VIP there's an Amazon subforum dedicated to things like WPZonBuilder.
