If i wanted to increase traffic to a site, what ways are best for not getting banned from google? I've heard scripts generally get you banned, but do all of them, or is there a good script that can avoid this? Does backlinking software get you banned?

Also, I heard spamming ratings on youtube gets you banned much easier than view spamming. IS this true? If so, is there a small number of rating you can safely get away with per day? (say 500... or 200)

if this is a site your planning to keep for a long time, then I wouldn't spam to get traffic to it.

just use social bookmarking, video, web 2.0, articles, PPC...they are tons of ways that you can drive your traffic way up and not have to worry about Google banning your ass.

When spamming links then keep a few things in mind:

a) don't suddenly create 1000 backlinks for a new site, start slowly and reasonable
b) create different content, look up "article spinning", google tries to detect duplicate or similar articles, they give no more ranking and they get supressed in the listing.
c) when you use cloaking etc you risk getting banned of course, google has a few automatisms to detect cloaking using unknown subnets.
d) Google likes a lot of text, "quality content"

Well this is for a youTube video.. and yes I plan to keep it for a long time without getting banned. So you say the best methods are social bookmarking, video, web 2.0, articles, PPC and there's no way to get banned using these methods?

Is it possible to get at least 10K hits a day with these methods? Or is that unrealistic? Because you need quite a few hits a day to get on the most viewed lists on youTube (or any list for that matter).

And justone, I will definitely be working with backlinks and article spinning. Same question: do you think 10K hits per ay is reasonable or am I a dreamer?

it's doable, but it'll take a little bit of work. it also depends how good your content is.

if you are sending people to a shitty landing page/video or whatever, you can can kiss any hopes of keeping that traffic coming in over a long period of time.

as far as getting banned, you won't get banned by google, but you might get banned from these networks if you're spamming. just create a bunch of accounts and you'll be ok.

well it's a music video so I hope that will keep traffic coming. I usually play live so a youtube video will do wonders in selling tickets. And yes I am willing to do a lot of work. As well, I am also willing to pay a bit of cash. But yeah thanks, it makes me feel so much better that it is doable.

But yeah thanks for your input! I really appreciate it
