so i have this video that has the potential to go viral imo, I also have a large traffic source I can use to make it go viral quicker. I want do this as fast as possible but I have some problems.

    1. I just set up my youtube account yesterday, and although I previously had adsense for websites, it's not working for youtube.

    2. They're saying I need proof of ownership or something in order to monetize. Any tips to get around this? Maybe I can first upload a video that belongs to the public domain and monetize it, and then once my account is monetized, I can monetize the main video I want? Or do I have to show proof for each video.

    What the video is.

the video is of a young kid going on a rant that I believe can go viral, I seen videos similar to it go viral. I got the video from a very small forum I'm apart of. I don't know who the kid is and can't seem to get an answer from the guy who posted it. His video itself has less than 1000 views. Is a video like this eligible to be monetized?

I might be able to ask permission from the guy who posted it to use it, will that allow me to monetize it?

Yah sure if you got the permission from the Owner of the video you can upload + Monetize that video and i would suggest try upload a couple of your own videos and see if they get Monetized or not , if Yes then just get the permission of the Owner and upload the video and make it VIRAL.

First of all, you need to set up Ad Sense account for your YouTube account independently of website's Ad Sense account.

Second, you should only use your own video or a video you've created for monetize, not using other users' video.

I posted couple of good videos and got offers from popular networks for viral videos. They want videos THAT ARE 110% yours.

If the owner grant you the rights to the video then you can provide proof of ownership. Otherwise it doesn't fall within YT guidelines for monetization. Perhaps you can approach with a share of the profits proposal.

Why don't you upload it to vimeo or dailymotion and then post it at Facebook as well.
Create a landing page + social locker (tweet, share or like to continue) and then post it at several groups / pages.

That way you'll stay longer online, since dailymotion doesn't ban as fast as youtube and you could make it go viral, due to the social locker + shares/tweets about your video.
Use adsense + maybe CPA to earn more with your video once it goes viral.
