I'm sure this kind of thing has been asked before, so I apologize in advance - I'm just looking for some help.

So I started a blog in a very small niche, and I'm wondering what the playbook is for something like this. All the content is decent and handwritten. I'm just wondering if somebody could link me to some relevant threads or outline a series of steps I should be taking.

Currently, I have a Twitter and a Facebook page for the blog, and I'm working on promoting it on various popular forums that are in the niche. I'm also working on getting a good amount of decent content posted to it.

Well.. As have been said there is no wright next step.

The next step is to start to get traffic, social signals and forums are a good way to get it but the most important way to get traffic is ranking. But this depends on what you would like to do with it and what way you chose to monetize the website. Some times you can get more targeted traffic from forums and social then form search engine, and more target traffic means more visitor willing to pay, on the other end search engine give you more visitors and this means bigger possibility to close a sell.

So it all depends on how you see this going.

If I where you, beside what you decide to do I will also go for creating some backlinks on high PR blogs, few directory submission. And after you see thing getting in one way or another I will see there what should be the next move.

But one thing is clear that you must prepare yourself to invest time and money in to that and have patients.

Or you could just start an aggressive seo building campaign but be aware that if you will not do it right you may find yourself penalized. This will not be the end of the road but will get back a few steps.

    Thank you.

Thanks for the insight. The "good news" is that this isn't a full project, i.e. I'm not putting all my eggs in this basket. It's mainly just an SEO/monetization playground for me as I'm new to the game. I mean, if something really good does come of this I'll keep it going, but I'm not that attached to it.
It's just a Blogger blog with Adsense. The niche is small but growing quite fast, so my hope is that I can get my foot in the door early and get ranked fairly well for certain keywords on Google and stay there for a while.
It's about 3 days old and I've gotten about 200 total views. I know that's a miniscule amount but I managed to more than double my pageviews per day since yesterday which is a good sign I guess.
Current plans are to start getting aggressive on Twitter and start trying to pull in my core audience. Hopefully that'll boost my views a bit.

You should add some 500 Words Articles to that Site and then try to SEO it.
If you are not good at SEO, then I would refer you to Fiverr.com

Be sure to check eachs gigĀ“s ratings before buying anything!

What I normally do with a new blog is,go to google, search the niche and add "site:blogspot" to the query , then just start building relevant back links by commenting on their post. This will not only start seo but it will start to drive traffic also. Then start doing things like the others say, guest appearances etc.

Congrats on getting 200 view in such a short time. Obviously you were taking the right steps and appear to have a plan to help you increase the traffic. It may well pay you to "focus" on what you have done so far and rinse and repeat.

Sometimes the simplest things and sticking with basics will get you further than trying every new thought. When you try something new make sure you set up a test for it verse changing your original tactics. Compare the results with the original results then you will know what is working for you.

    My opinion only.

1st thing is you gotta make sure that the on page seo had already 100% optimized. double cross-check it. I usually provide 10 600 words-unique-copyscape passed articles.
2nd is, off page seo, get along with social media and authority-backlinks, those are the best in this penguin era.

I hope for the best on this project.

I understand your point but, and here I'm talking from my experience, all my project that I do not take them to the full potential are dead and gone... So if you start with the idea "if it work ok, if not ok" it is possible to waste time and a good project. Many project do not succeed on the first try. And I say that because I see from your word that this blog and niche is more then just a blog and a niche, you have more to do with that.

But any way.. keep it going and do not trow your weapon on the first problem, adapt.. adapt ..

Thank you and all the best.

create some more blogs by using the same type of keywords. I think if you really want to success in Micro Niche then you have to create a lot of sites and should work with different keywords.
if you can probably rank for 10 micro keywords then you can get really good benefit.

Thanks for your help, guys. Except you mahisxs - way to boost your post count with garbage.
My blog's traffic has been fluctuating. I got a boost a few days ago after some initial pimping on various relevant forums and blogs, but it seemed to have backed off in the past few days. Now it seems to have picked back up, today I've nearly tripled my traffic from yesterday. I did some mass backlinking and submitted to various RSS feed aggregators, it's possible those are starting to pay off.

You've to focus on getting traffic by ranking your keywords high in the google SERPs and use techniques to convert the traffic to money from the ads. If you are able to monetize, keep doing it for as many sites as you can think of. That's the secret of micro niches and you are half done :)

Yes the mass backlinks campaign could start to show his result.

But you should look where the traffic is coming from....

If it is direct traffic then this may come from webmaster or visitors that saw your link and click on it. I also get this fluctuation when building blog comments backlinks. If this is the source then your traffic will get back down again not to the previous point but some where there.

If it is traffic coming from search engine then be sure this will be a constant traffic.

And one more thing... when you do aggressive backlink building campaign do not ping your backlinks and try to keep them steady because is possible to rise a red flag from G.

If you where G and see that a website get 1-2 backlinks per day and then it rise it to 1000 and then get back to 3-4 backlinks per day what you would thing about that?

For this reason.. I have a steady and constant backlink building campaign and I try to kee the average amount of backlinks for a certain period a constant value and also never ping them and let G discover naturaly.

I ping only those backlinks with high value and relevancy for my website.

    Thank you
