I wish you good luck man! I fully understand you, because I have the same dream/ambitions.

I make now cold emailing too. As you said this is low reward work. What for your opinion is better? Adwords? Social media? Local clients?

Local clients can be great for this niche. You can get far better rates in person, in my experience.

Not the case for me. I travel around Europe, the poorer countries.

Status update: Got two new leads, one approached me from LinkedIn and other one from Facebook. The one from LinkedIn is a potentially the golden ticket, a business director of a very large currency exchange. Unfortunately for me, it's Friday evening and this will probably be dealt on Monday. Working on leaving a good impression. Also got one very interesting partnership proposal from a web design agency owner, going to follow up on that and see if we can benefit each-other as I don't mind referring leads for commission and vice-versa.

Also, trying to implement a productivity hack: installed TimeDoctor. It's crazy how good overview it gives, a "full day of work" looks like only 2 hours of meaningful work if you look at it. Insane!

Hope to get some articles written on my agency blog this weekend. I usually outsource all my content but I have a very particular style of writing that I want to heavily integrate within the whole agency website - as to let my clients know right off the bat what sort of a person they are dealing with (not pretentious, overly professional, bureaucratic agency bullsh*t).

Also, working on building a custom reporting system that would be easy to digest and easy to update.. Thinking of basing it off Google Data Studio but to be honest haven't ever even touched that. We'll see. Reports are kinda important.

I am blessed enough to have a sales background (can one even imagine a better background for entrepreneurship?) but my bad luck is the fact that, despite living in an English speaking country, I have a very thick Slavic accent and my clients being American, have some difficulties understanding and trusting me (unconscious racism, much like towards Russians and Indians global-wide) so I try to keep all verbal communication absolutely minimal. I've closed both of my current clients via email. I've had one Skype call with both of them afterwards (on their initiation) and I only do that to confirm that I am an actual real life person, the person who I claim to be with the credentials that my LinkedIn shows, but I try to keep it minimal. I also like communicating with potential clients on my person Facebook a lot, sounds weird but you really get to know people better.

    short answer: mail.

    Kinda have a similar issue .. :D
Your facebook is with your real name ( a slavic one .. ) or you use an "English" name ? Same thing for Linkedin ?

I believe your advantage is that you're offering value first, then people are coming to you. Not vice-versa.
I've sent around 90 cold emails last month, all VERY personalized, with a picture of me, and on my back their website on a TV Screen. I was offering free video audits. I got like 66% Open rate, 1 response telling me that he's not interested...

I followed up with 3 other e-mails that got opened but no replies.

I still believe it's a problem of trust, so i changed everything on my e-mail signature. I included a more familiar name, an 800 number, and i created a website specific to the niche ( PlasticSurgeonSeo.com as an example .. )

I'm planning to do similar things as you. Gonna record videos teaching SEO tactics for my niche and ranking them on Youtube ( It's easy to rank for terms such as "Plastic Surgeon Marketing" on Youtube ) And i plan to start engaging in Facebook groups.

For Linkedin, I'm still suspicious, since I've seen MANY people using it to get clients and I don't want to compete with others. Especially without a good advantage that sets me apart.

Gonna start sending the emails today again, this time i'll go heavy to get more data + i'll follow up with a phone call.

I got my Skype number and everything and i'll just go for it :D and pick up the phone haha.

Anyways, i hope you answer my simple question again ; Do you use ur real name, or a native name?

    +

What are the issues that you strugle with right now ? :)

    Good luck mate ;)

SEO is a tough beast to tame.
I've done it both, for me and my clients and got tired of the long run results expectations.
Now I am heading to SM traffic generation, which I find to be a lot quicker for me and clients.

Good luck with your journey thou!

I'll be looking at your thread and maybe learn something I may have missed.

Not experienced but just letting you know my view. In your case it seems like the problem is the service you're offering, even for us who know IM I can't see the value in video auditing. I think it's best that you find a problem in a service they're using and that'll get them interested, for example: their website is slow so you can prove that with GTmetrix and pingdom tests and give them some statistics on how it affects the bounce rates, this will be crucial to them especially if they're advertising.

Clients don't care too much about technical isues, they care about results.
If you offer a plan that is verifiable in money terms, they'll listen, that's all they care about.
For this means, it works better when you offer to rank a page FIRST, while leting them know that when this page reaches first page, the invoices start rolling in to be paid on a monthly basis.
Most potential clients will easily agree with something like this starting for FREE.
So, it is up to you to invest the required resources to do the job, and in this, you should chose batles you know in advance you can win.
A client wont last long even if you show that his search term last month was 83 and now it is 72.

Just my take on the matter.

Thanks a lot man and I wish you good luck. Let me know when the thread is up - don't want to miss it!

As I have only two clients then I can count my clients to Facebook for now but I sincerely believe that LinkedIn is going to be the bigger pond for me. I wonder if there are any LinkedIn autoresponders out there.... Would be huge.
