About a year ago I met a web design guru who's team makes all the websites for the major Vegas hotels. We've become close friends as well as business partners and he is now blessing me with one of his teams creations ( i'm guessing an amazing website). Only problem is, I don't know what I should have them create for me?

I was thinking about whole sales then I was thinking about event tickets, now im just lost. Obviously I don't want to waste this amazing opportunity, but I need a pretty good idea and fast!

Haven't got my feet wet in the www biz yet so any advice on what's making money these days as far as online commerce goes would be well appreciated!

Maybe a JV? Any light you guys can shine my way would be awesome. :)

and P.S. only reason I say a $10,000 website is because today in a conference call with his team they asked if I wanted a $10,000 x-mas present?

You're looking to scale up before testing market, which is almost a guaranteed loss.

I'd STRONGLY suggest working any angle you can to put that favor on hold. Set up some cheesy WP sites and find what works for you first.

Otherwise find someone who already has a working model and offer it to them for a cut.

That's good advice from beezee. Go with something you know about.. otherwise it could be a huge loss.

Also, you could do a JV - you do the site, they do the traffic.. something like that could work too.

    Either way, good luck!

First things first, it is not a $10,000 website. It is not as if it is something so extraordinary that no one has seen it, that is just what the company values its services at. Second, you should create an offline business...

Yeah, im not saying it "$10,000 idea", Im just trying to give explain the scope of this teams work. I already have a an event ticket niche online, I think im going to go that route.

On a side note, he just called me and informed one of his guys is going to handle the back links. I couldn't help but to smile - I wonder if he saw it all the way from his crib in Beverly Hills :D
