I became interested in SEO when I started building my own business
websites. I currently own a Bachelor Party planning company. We run
out of NY, Philadelphia and Atlantic City. Currently, I have 7
websites for them. I am getting about 15,000 hits a month - I rank on
the 1st page (mostly top 3 results) for about 50 keywords for EACH
site. These are very specific keywords and they are the only ones that
really pertain to the services I offer.

I would like to double or triple my traffic. My busy season is wedding
season - March through September - so I have around three months to
optimize, optimize, optimize (I'm focusing on 3 of them).. I
also just opened two twitter accounts and have around 2000 followers
on each (mostly paid followers) and started a blog for each site that
google seemed to love - all sorts of keywords and rankings soared up. I have just started focusing on social media - in the past I didn't really think it would be useful to my company, since most of my
customers are only in need of this services once. Obviously, I didn't understand that social media helps with SEO as well as it's main service: connecting with potential customers.

I need backlinks, but am unsure of the best way to get them. I noticed a site from a small little company that often ranks up there with me, but has almost NO content. One thing the site DOES have, however, are backlinks. Lots of them. Around 100,000 of them. I am assuming that's why they're ranking, since no one in my industry has any clue who they are and the website is minuscule and offers essentially no information...?

Aside from backlinks, any advice on what else I could do to reach my
goal of doubling my organic traffic? I'm nervous to use all of the
services out there, since they all say they're "the best" and
obviously - if they truly are as good as they claim - know how to
manipulate good, fake reviews, search results etc.*

I'm playing around with $1000 to start off with, but I have no issue
spending more when I see results.. Where should I be putting this
    money?

Edit: I tried to list the sites in this post, but it seems the forum
won't allow me to post links, since I'm a new member. If viewing the
sites would help you with your advice, just pm me!

    Thank you!

What do you use to track the competitor`s backlinks?
If the number is real it means that the backlinks are definitely coming from blog commenting / blog trackbacks. Since you mentioned that its a small website with little to none information means that he doesn`t invest that much in backlinks so those are not multiple backlinks adding from same domains [ paid sitewide links ].

I think that time its the factor to beat this particular competitor. It usually takes 2-3 months if not less then that for google to discover his backlinks source and I bet he`s rankings will drop. Try to focus on the other competitors in terms of SERP . [ I can get more specific on SEO but not for free you know ^^ ]

Also if you think it`s a good idea, try Facebook Ads in marriage related pages only for your targeted zones and filter by age.

Hope I could help and if you have more questions I`ll be glad to answer.

It might be a good idea to target your geographic area in facebook where the user is male and relationship status is engaged and the pay per click.

A good way to get backlinks is to find do follow comment opportunities along with creating content and guest blogging.
