i dont have all the time in the world. obviously.
i have just over 100 blog posts that i have optimized for keywords.

my question is this: should i keep writing new articles (been doing 2 a week) and build my base of blog posts, or should i stop writing and now just focus on getting backlinks to those articles with keywords linking to them?

i can't do both since i have a full time job and multiple projects going on. which is best for me to do?

I am currently in the same situation. And I agree with you that doing both without automation is too much. Well with the new google update you don't need any backlinks as per Matt Cutts. lol

Not only that but you don't need SEO at all!

I think people are jumping too quickly from the "overly optimized SEO is bad" to the "all SEO is bad". If you're intelligent about your SEO decisions it's still just as effective as it was before this last update regardless of the fear mongering that Google is trying to perpetuate.

And to address your question - you may want to do both. See if you can't outsource some of the SEO work to Fiverr or here on the B/S/T section and focus on making more articles.

I got that you were being facetious which is why I didn't quote or bring up what you said specifically, but look at the new posts lists - it's plagued with people seriously spreading stuff this kind of information. I wasn't indicting you specifically, but you have to admit it seems to be becoming a pretty pervasive problem around here.

I think it is best not to work on backlinks right now. What I am seeing is that all my backlinks are ranking, but not my blog posts. I think thats why that Mad Cut guy was saying don't do any SEO.

Well.. thats what the basic premise of Larry Page's algo is .. Backlinks and thats what google has mastered over time. Saying that we dont weight backlinks anymore is like saying that we are now Bing/Yahoo !!

They aren't saying that backlinks don't matter anymore. They are just devaluing backlink profiles that might be suspect. If 90% of all your links come from comments, forms, and directories, that's going to throw up major linkspam flags. Keep in mind that with any website using standard coding, the sidebars, footers, and comments are clearly divided and easy for Google to identify. Forums all have similar traits that google can identify as do directories and bookmarking sites.

I'm split time between writing articles for your site and guest posting/link building. Do you already rank well for any of your keywords? Do you already get traffic? Working on capturing your leads and monetizing them might be more useful that either offsite or onsite SEO.

This thread went completely off topic.

It is not you are outsourcing it to the Philippines government. There are good and bad writers in the Philippines and you have to pick the best. Ask for work sample then make a single article as order then start making larger articles then when you make sure the guy delivers quality and on time then negotiate a full time position with fixed monthly payment. Odesk has time tracking software that helps you know if the employee worked the agreed time or not.

It sounds like you have a LOT of content. If it's good, that's more than enough to make a ton of money with good traffic. Start workin on ways to get traffic. Start working on ways to monetize. 100 blog posts that are unique is more than a lot of famous bloggers put up in a year, so the next step seems to me to drive traffic.

100 posts is quite enough. Now its time to do some back linking.
But you have to continue posting in your blog. Cause Google can drop your site at anytime. So Both should be done. Slow down posting and increase back linking.

i have been trying to do 1-2 new posts a week to keep it going. since the penguin update i dropped a lot of keywords in SERPS. so mad! i was trying to do 3-5% keyword density. that must have screwed me. so i took my most popular articles found through google and dropped the keywords down to 1 in intro, middle and end, plus within a link, img alt and H tag. so each post now has the word 5 -6 times.

You have quite a lot of content... you could start working more on your backlinking and post maybe once a week? If you don't have time to write I guess you could outsource the article, it wouldn't cost much and you'd still show G that you keep adding fresh content regularly. Or you could have people write guest posts...

build some quality backlinks and slow your blog posts. Goolge loves continuing updating sites. Not some dead one.
