Pertaining to this thread...

This kinda made me feel like *not participating* tonight... I'm amazed at how people can ream on one another like they do in this thread... AND, i'm amazed at how RELIGION can come up within a thread such as this...

I hate money.
It's something fake we, as humans, have generated to keep ourselves complacent and gives us something to strive for...

...My life, when ended, will carry with it something greater than all wealth on earth!

Money CAN buy you happiness
Money CAN ruin your life
Money CAN *fix* your body
Money CAN ruin your body
Money CAN change your personality
...

Why be mad at a higher figure, because of a defect in yourself?, or because of money ?....

I just don't understand anymore.....

Dude, I totally agree that it is something we created, but it is just a token holder for something more concrete that was used. Before money barter was used, still had the same effect, who has most, wins.

Interesting subject though, does money buy happiness? No, but it does get you laid and opens almost any door given enough money, so does it make it easier to be happy? Of course.

If a thread can convince you that you love or hate money then you have deeper searching to pursue, good luck :)... always keep mindful, don't be gullible, don't be so accepting of everything you see, hear, or experience. My advice ;) BTW, is getting laid really something that requires money? I don't think so, lol. Money is superficial actually. I got a pocket full of sunshine :o

I love money, but only if that money comes from legit source. By doing that, you will not change your personality, cannot ruin our life, cannot ruin our body.

My $0.04 ($0.03 for inflation, $0.01 for Christmas donation)

Nirvana, I dont think it convinced him of one thing or another, but everything that happens to us, that we read, that we hear effects us. Different things turn different switches, dont think that a thread has no effect over us, it doesnt hurt to be open to thoughts and ideas.

Oh no, It wasn't the thread... I'm just amazed at EVERYONE's responses to the poor guy's Call.... ya know?

It all boils down to money...

if he had money, he wouldn't be depressed, he wouldn't have to post about the subject...

the monetary system only serves to perpetuate the idea that we need it to survive and if we dont have it then we're not worthy of being apart of society. money/greed/profit etc holds humanity back in many ways, although most people won't acknowledge that because they're conditioned to support the system.

Although, it's not so much that money itself is the problem, more so that the ideas behind why money should exist are the problem. what if we lived in a society where money didn't exist, and all products/accomodations, etc were free? Most people would say that without the existence of money, then no one would ever do anything and the world would just collapse in a big pile of laziness and hedonism lol.

I think if money didn't exist, all aspects of industry, art, culture would flourish in a different way; in a more real way. take movies for example: if money wasn't involved in big hollywood hits, celebrities, actors, filmmakers, etc etc etc, then who would make movies? the people who actually love doing it without care of monetary gain, that's who. Things would be created by people who like creating them not for the money, but to show the world the end result of their creation, if that makes sense.

The monetary system was useful for a time, but it's usefulness is about to expire.

Money is just a means to end. It has no value to me. I wish I could make a billion dollars just so I could give it away and put a smile on somebody's face. When I die I don't want people talking about how much money I had, but rather that I was a good dude and a good Dad.

Don't worry, life is about to shift soon, money soon will be worthless too. :)
You're living in the matrix, a dream... soon to finally wake up.

This is the purpose of money though, world would be in chaos without it, I would have people spending all day in a third world country to make my cup of coffee. Like it or lump it work with the system or it will work against you.

its funny I had always had the desire to be more than I am spiritually and physically wanting money has never been part of the plan lol but being rich has always been the plan .....crazy. I guess I'm more concern of the freedom that money brings then the actual desire to touch or even feel it.

Nirvana- I gotta agree!!...

So true, so true....

It has been working for the past 2000 + years, why do you think this will change anytime soon? The collapse of the markets is just an adjustment which has happened before but the monetary system survived. It will be with us for the rest of our lives, if you didnt believe that I doubt you would be here.

..... and you're right, spot on actually. I am forced to live with this system, or get out... and you better believe I'm making the best out of the situation, as for my prediction, no pun intended.... you just wait and see ;) although to see the future you look to the past, things are truly about to shift, it's a great time to be alive in this challenging but exciting time in human history.

Yes, look at history, while empires have come and gone, one thing has remained constant, money. Who knows who the financial powers may be in 10, 20 or 50 years, but money will be a constant and will exist.

i disagree. the way our current monetary system works is more or less like a pool that's getting too full and to compensate we just keep putting more sandbags around the perimeter. the more inflation increases the more sandbags we put around it. it sort of has a 'trying to delay the inevitable' feeling to it.

i dont think the monetary system will go on forever. it serves to only seperate each of us to have a mindstate of hording what we have.

An untamed force is working against the monetary system, of course my (this) statement cannot be backed by empirical facts or history, that's why I'd loose an argument against you, but only time will tell, this is why I wait so urgently to confirm this truth. :)... Like Rafiki told Simba... look harder.... the old ways are collapsing, fast...

People have been predicting that for as long as money has been around. At one point the patent office in the US closed because he thought that everything that could possibly be invented had already been invented. Money is what drives the human race, when communism came to Russia, this was a major issue, all factories were either judged on per unit or per pound, if they were paid on per unit they created the smallest unit possible, if per pound they made the largest possible, obviously both unusable. Bottom line is people are lazy and without a monetary or trade system no one would do anything that wasnt required for them to remain alive one more day.

good post nirvana :). i think the reason why most people never see something like that as a possibility is because it's such a revolutionary ideology. without the monetary system humanity would be forced to have a 'we' outlook as opposed to the 'me' outlook we have now when it comes to distribution of resources
