I Hate AT&T - How Can I Factory Unlock my AT&T iPhone Baseband 4.12.01?

To make a long story short I recently purchased a iPhone 4 (baseband 4.12.01 latest iOS) on eBay. My problem is that I'm traveling abroad and I'm no way using AT&T international packages which costs TONS of money. I could easily work up a $3,000 bill per month if I use their international roaming services...


So I contacted the guy on eBay and he said he will contact AT&T for me to get it unlocked. This guy upgraded to a iPhone 4s (after selling me his old iPhone 4). an hi account with AT&T was in good standing.


But AT&T refuses to unlock it for me.
What's more is that every other cellular company unlocks for international travel - besides AT&T..


I'm done with them.


My question is, is there a online service that could unlock a in contract iPhone which is locked to AT&T?
I found a few services online but they all charge between $125-$250 which I can't afford. I'm looking for a service that


A) charges either $100 or less


B) accepts PayPal (just in case I have to dispute a charge - like if the guy scams me or something..


If someone could point me in the right direction it would be of great help.

I haven't jailbroken a phone since my 4 when it first came out but read the other day that someone come out with a super simple/quick method for the latest iOS v so do some Googling, I read the tutorial on a tech blog somewhere and sounded like a freaking snap as compared to what it was last time I did it (was still not difficult/time consuming but being the first time it took a minute to insure I did it correctly).

ALSO look in Craigslist. I know there are a couple of people in town locally that charge $20 to do it, you just walk in and they do it in about 5-10 minutes and will even load you up with some bonuses like getting free apps, etc. Pretty much any decent sized city will have some local guys advertising on CL that will do it for you for WAY under that $100s you're offering AND you wont even have to do anything like you would with paid online tutorials.

Google and multiple forums dedicated to this type of thing are your friend. Is it just me of has there been a lot of junk posts on BHW lately?

Sadly there's not software/jailbreak unlock for the iPhone 4 these days. The last unlock for it came out almost immediately after the iPhone originally came out, and unless the original person was very careful with every software update, there's no way to do it.
 
Check out XDA Developers it is the best smartphone modding community out there. They have an iPhone section. If it's possible you will find all the info you need there.

Nope, it does not exist. Best bet is to sell the iPhone
 
call AT&T -"1-800-331-0500" and HIT "0" when they asks about consumer number or anything and your call will be trasferred to helpline , and then be polite to them , tell your problem about unlocking process , they will ask for IMEI number , sometimes they ignores by saying they are not unlocking iphone at this moment , just call them again after few minutes , they will process your IMEI in queue for validation and you will get email by 7-10 days about your iphone is unlocked , i have unlocked about 4-5 at&t iphone this way , good luck

I think you could get it for cheaper than that - like $100 search online..
 
I think that the latest Gevey sim might be able to unlock it, but I'm not entirely sure so make sure that you check that before you order.

I do not have an iPhone but this is a product I am evaluating to sell on my website. It is the software and instructions to unlock any i-phone, and supposedly works like a champ. I have only had 2 people try it but they both said it works great. When your phone updates and re-locks itself you simply unlock it again. Please let me know of it is good (or crap and I won't sell it). Someone said it might work on iPads, but I do not know.

Keep it and use in exchange for your opinion.

This thing uses free tools to unlock the phone, the problem is that it doesn't work on almost any iPhone that is 4 or above.

It's just a jailbreak using greenpoison and an unlock with UltraSnow, if you sell this you're basically scamming people because they can get the same thing for free.
 
Hmm, I think it would be better if you ask in some phone forums. This isn't the right place to ask that.
 
Easy to unlock it. You can easily now, with the power of the internet, google it and do it on your own. :]
