A drunk New Jersey man left a trail of destruction after stealing a bulldozer so he could drive home, police said.

An intoxicated Christopher Russell allegedly pinched the heavy machinery from a West Hudson Park construction site, in Harrison, on Friday night, reports NJ.com.

He then rode it through the actual West Hudson Park ? where he is accused of destroying grass, making tracks and knocking over signs.

The 30-year-old also allegedly smashed up three benches, a tree and a water fountain.

And when he came to leave the park, he reportedly crashed straight into a parked car.

Cops arrived on the scene at 9 p.m. as Russell was getting out of the bulldozer on a nearby street. He is said to have confessed to snatching the vehicle.

"He said he was cold and was trying to ride it home to the Ironbound section of Newark," Harrison Police Capt. Mike Green told the Jersey Journal.

Attending officers said he also smelled of alcohol.

Russell was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, criminal mischief, leaving the scene of an accident and theft of the bulldozer.

His bail was set at $20,000, and he was remanded to Hudson County jail in Kearny.

Now I want to try and drive one of those things drunk... I've driven on in the army, and that was fun, but combining it with alcohol?

And then when the cops stop you:
