He said he wants to see some of the stuff I've done.
Plus he said he has a number of sites on the first page...

    So what should I do?
Problem is, I've never done SEO before!

I was actually planning on using Traffic Guyser!

    Anybody got some good advice?

    Thanks BIG TIME!

I'd suggest watch as many youtube video tutorials on the subject as you can to get a brief overview of how it all works.

    No, you got it right.

I hear all this talk that we should be doing offline consulting,
so I figured fuck it. I wanna do some seo for this dude, cause I was in his store
recently and I over herd he just spent a couple grand building this website,
also, the clerk at the store was talking about how the owner wanted more leads and sales.

So I made a mental note.

I saw those videos from Taffic Guyser, and I figured, I can do this!

I just need to figure out what Im gonna tell him!

    Any advice?

The safest thing for you to do is to tell him you are only there to consult.
You want to find out what is working and what is not working for him.
Get alot of info and then tell him, you only create customized plans for your clients and schedule another meeting to go over your suggestions based on what he told you.

Tell him SEO Google Dance is expensive, but you've found valuable success with article marketing, and that you can have articles written and submitted to many article directories that point to his website, building backlinks and creating traffic from high PR (valued) websites. To show him examples of this, simply find keywords like "internet marketing methods" for example and see that it's got an articlebase article on the first page. Then just buy an article re-writer, and poster bot so you can do that for him.

Personally i'd stress a simple PPC campaign with google adwords and other PPC networks, this will give him what he wants right away, targeted traffic that he can really measure his ROI with.

why do you try to do business you don´t know anything about?
i would never get the idea to construct a rocket or create a medicine against aids.
just because i don´t know how to do it.
you should better stick with things you know instead of trying to do everythingh you hear it could work.

    greets, darkstar69

p.s.: let us know how the meeting was going

    Your a funny guy.

I still wanna make this work though.

I told him I could get him to the top, for the first month for free.

Really, he and I have nothing to loose, and there is a SEO contract on the line!

    You're screwed.

If he does already have first place rankings, and they didn't do it themselves, he will see right though you.

The people I go after, don't have a website, and don't even know the term SEO...

THESE ARE THE PEOPLE YOU NEED TO GO AFTER!

    I guess.

But he has the cash to invest, and is just waiting for
a SEO contract spot to be filled!

Tell him you will get him top 10 in his niche, no doubt. Then Bust your ass with backlinks.* Non Spam. This is a great opportunity to start, just push yourself a bit more. If you need help don't be afraid to ask people on the forum. You'll be surprised what you can do under pressure. If worst comes to worst and there are no results just hire an seo company and develop a great relationship with him. All you have to loose is your effort. Go for it.

    Some reasonable ideas.

    1. Snag yourself a copy if IBP (Internet Bus Promoter) from this site.

    2. Run a report against his website. This will show whats right and whats wrong.

    3. Get yourself a cheap logo and stick it on top of the report.

    4. "Mr Prospect. I've spent a lot of time and produced this report
which I usually charge $730.00 for - yadda yadda yadda"

    5. Somewhere on this site is some software/presentation material for "10,000 dollars in a weekend". Includes some good presentation material
which needs a lick and a polish although the data is fine.

    7. Check out all Local Business/Offline threads here and cram cram cram.

    8. Clean Teeth, aftershave/perfume/ brushed hair. S-M-I-L-E

    9. Tell yourself "I WILL WALK AWAY WITH A CONTRACT"

I've actually done a fair amount of consulting, so believe me when I tell you that you are not screwed like some are suggesting.

Keep in mind that the knowledge you have is not common to most business owners, and what you can accomplish relatively easily would be difficult for the average bear. That being said, keep your pitch simple, and stick to layman's terms. If you go at a potential client puking tech-talk all over them you'll lose their interest in the blink of an eye. Don't bother discussing TG or any other method you plan on using in detail - Focus your conversation around the result and the benefits.

Keep your client thinking dollar signs and profits and they won't concern themselves with how you do what you do.

There's obviously a lot more to closing a deal than that, but you'll learn as you go along. ;)
