    Hey all,

    Love to hear your input.

I have had a domain back from 1998, it is 14 years and 2 months old......

I had a dream to use that domain for something, but just never did, it was one of my first domains i ever owned.....

I got an email from a company melbourneitdbs.com (checked them out, they seem real) representing their client offering me $600.

    I countered with $3,800 .

1 month later, I get an email (today) that their client agreed to purchase the domain.

I started thinking (im not hungry for money right now) if they jumped from 600 to 3800 they must really want this thing, WHO IS THIS CLIENT? eheheheheh.... they wont tell me what they do, but they promised it wont have adult content on it or gambling....

Anyhow, what are your thoughts? Should I wait, maybe they will want it more and offer more for it?

The domain contains 2 words in it...... 12 letters and its a .com

    Your thoughts?

Also use the POLL button if you dont mind please.

That's a nice story and all, but you can't ask people to evaluate how much a domain is worth if you don't tell us the name.

No one can answer that question but you unless you tell us the domain name to get a better idea (prob not a good idea) so youneed to figure out what it is wort to you? Does it have keywords which a large search volume? Or maybe it is just a nice brand name. Either way, you have not done anything with it and if it is juts a brand name then $3800 is good value.

Also from a business sense, you already gave them your price which they have agreed to....raising the price again will most likely put them off and not trust you to complete the deal anyway since you move the goal posts easily.

So you need to decide if it s worth $3800 value to you to keep it make make money by building a site on it or just sell it and move on. Also some people may have a need but will also have a backup plan. So if you keep them waiting then they will move on and use a different domain.

Again its up t o you. You could try to get more and maybe you will.....or you end up sitting on it for another few years which again is your choice.

If you let it expire it would be selling on godaddy for under $20 like loads of others so I would be inclined to rip their arm off. Whats your chances on ever building the site ? 14 years is a long time....And how good is the domain is it the sort of thing several companies in a niche would target or is it name specific to this company ? Most of these domain buyers are timewasters but if you have checked them out then it should be legit.....option Two is to built the site, rank it and then approach the company direct for better money .

Well like the above post mentions. Now if you raise the price it is not good for business and they
will most likely cancel the deal. When you tell someone how much you want for it then the only
thing numbers can do is go down from their :p...However since they went from 600 to 3800
I would say you would be pushing your luck going any higher or making them wait.

First, Evaluate and ask yourself " Will I ever do anything with this domain? "

Then you can go from their.

    Good luck !

if you don't have a potential to make a site worth for that amount sell it. some times your domain is going with their brand name that is why they are asking and no value for SEO(in terms of keyword).

Honestly... pretty hard to give an even somewhat informed opinion here other than the speed of the "client's" offer. I mean, if the two word domain was websitehosting.com, it could be worth considerably more than that. (too many letters, so it's def not that... lol)

What do you think the potential market for the EMD is worth with the right resources behind it?

A friend of mine just recently sold his website. The site was his own name but someone in NY with the same name wanted it for her business. He ended up selling that no PR, no links, no nothing 1 page website for 50K. Value may not always be perceived by both seller and buyer..it can be one-sided.....Does this 12 letter website spell out their name??? :)

Well you say you don't need the money and you've had it for 14years so might as well keep it and park it and see what happens in future. The only way to get more money now potentially would be to just say actually, sorry it has some sentimental value to me and i am not interested in selling at this time.

So maybe in another month they come back with a bigger offer to counter the 'sentiment' factor or maybe not.Either way you still have the domain....as worst thing to do if you dont need the money is to sell and they just a domain specialist who then sell it on for $50k!!

The unfortunate thing here is that they gave you an offer, you gave them a counter offer and they agreed to it - and then you backed away from the table. That is at least better than trying to raise the price higher once they agreed to your stated price.

i buy/sell domains as a business, i can give you my estimate of value of your domain if you PM me the name. otherwise, as people said, there is no way to give you any answer without knowing the name. $3,800 may be good, or $38,000 may be good, depends on the domain name.

Well I sent them an email a few days ago confirming that it has sentimental value to me and since they did not get back to me quickly I changed my mind to before the offer came.

I got an email today with an offer.

It read: final offer $25,000 take it or leave it.

    I am in total shock!!!!!!

What if it's Apple or Microsoft trying to buy the site behind a domain buying company. I mean I doubt it but maybe it's a big company with a lot of money and it looks like this domain is something that they really want.

Damn!!!!!!!! Decision is tough easier now. I'm 70% leaning to sell now!!!!!

Life is too short for anger!
