I recently got a new customer, from my local area.

He wants me to build a wordpress site for him.
    and improve his SEO.

    How much should I charge?
or How much would you typically charge.

For a design + coding (5 pager) I charge minimum 3k - including the domain name, template, plugins and first year of hosting

For SEO - well it all depends on the niche/competition. Think of how much work it is for you, and how much u expect to get paid and you'll come up with a number

That usually costs a lot, so think what price will satisfy both you & your client.

When you "build" the site for him, what exactly are you doing? Are you setting up the domain, hosting, and Wordpress in addition to adding pages, pre-made themes, and plugins; or are you coding the themes and plugins yourself? Perhaps you're doing something in-between and creating child themes?

Regardless of which one you're doing, consider how much time it would take to finish the job and charge an "hourly" rate. You can start off with something between $30-$150/hour, or you can charge your first client a bit less to increase the likelihood that they'll refer you to other people. I prefer working with referrals, so I always charge clients who I think are going to refer me significantly less than others.

As for SEO, how much you charge depends on what you're doing exactly. I'd imagine you would be doing local SEO, so you'll need to build citations, do on-page SEO, technical SEO, and build links if you're not using a content marketing strategy. It's difficult to tell you what to charge because some people are able to get away with charging more than others, so try to estimate how much you think they're willing to spend on SEO and charge them monthly.

Don't forget to use contracts to prevent scope creep. It happens more than you think. http://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/4-...cts-right-now-free-contracts-included.789725/

Plugins, He's interested in doing some Black and white seo. So I might order some services here on bhw.

Ah, that's the way I like to do it, especially when they want their site designed similarly to another site.

Before you do any "black hat" SEO, inform your client of the risks and be sure to include it in your contract, that way if something happens as a result of the campaign, they'll understand what happened.

Price is always determined on how much you value your work/time and how much you think your client can pay.

You cant add a specific price tag when building websites and doing SEO because it depends on a lot of factors which you havent included in your post so its hard to say.

+ You cant compare prices in Russia to prices in USA or other countries.

First evaluate your client, than check out the competition to see what they are offering and for what price. Than you can build a package with a price range that would not go over his budget and would fit your pocket for the time spent also.
