I got a 6 point warning for saying this..

As per the rule permitting civillized discussion on the matter - can someone please tell me whether they think this is fair or not and how to appeal against this?

And this expires next year:

I mean I don't mind the first two even though they were posted on the lounge where post count inflation is not possible and where everyone posts incessantly about all kinds of stuff without any problem but those last two, particularly the last one are a major bummer to me and this means can't even upgrade to get IM stuff going here :(

This is not a complaint just more for the sake of discussion on how the system works and an appeal to have the time frame lessened if possible since getting a serious warning for saying 'it's my opinion' might be a bit militant no?

You should be contacting bhw staff directly rather than creating a scene here. Plus as far as i know creating threads about received warnings is not permitted (sorry if i'am wrong).
 
I can only share my own thoughts on the subject and this could not be anywhere close to what the mod was thinking but I think you were just overstepping some lines. You are loud, cocky, and talk very much, a good rule of thumb is when you receive an infraction - to step back, take some pause, rethink what you did wrong and try not to do that again in foreseeable future. I've read the terms and rules section more than a few times and I still received warnings after that, I would advise doing the same - go and try to read the rules section, - because questioning mods' decision is against forums rules as well and now you are quite close to being banned which I hope will not happen because this place needs chatty people, they make this place more interesting to read casually when there is no business or work in mind.

Appeals are done with the staff in private, not by opening a public thread about it. You've been asking for these warnings to be honest.
 
Get over it man. Not everyone is in the same mood always. As for the expiry of the warning points, perhaps contact the mod who gave you the warning in the first place, and request him/her to may be reconsider the time.

OK I wasn't sure about any of this. I was going to post an appeal via pm if I could find the right person or system but I read a post this morning by one of the staff, that said you are welcome to discuss the matter in public if you keep it orderly, so that's what I did, not knowing how casual the attitude on the site might be to such matters. I didn't know.

Edit: if this thread is not appropriate as per the forum rules, can I request it be deleted. I thought it was allowed but judging by some of the replies, maybe it wasn't the best course of action. I'm not trying to stir up trouble.
 
You begin your appeal responding to the warning... not take it to the public to see if it was fair.

Please read the PM you received when you got the warning.

"If you believe this infraction was issued in error, please open a support ticket by visiting support.blackhatworld.com and we will be happy to answer your questions to the best of our abilities."

This isn't the proper way of handling it. You should bring the issue directly to the mod/admin who issued you the points.

A few months after I joined, OldSalt (a mod from back then) thought I meant something else by a post I made. He issued me an infraction, I messaged him & explained where I was coming from, and he cleared them.

Sometimes, a simple conversation between two people can patch up any misconceptions.

I did do this up on seeing it and I got this prompt:

That's ok though. I suppose I will have to wait until the infractions expire to upgrade if there is no alternative.
 
Pretty random sentence imo, no profanities were used, and no one seemed to be insulted either.

You can upgrade to Jr VIP I think even with warnings. Just that you cannot open a sales thread till they expire.
