Ok so I work as an in house seo and our adwords budget is about 20k a month. That means Google calls us once a quarter to "talk" to us about it with their adwords account reps. I get about 30 mins with them to ask questions etc. What are some questions you would like me to ask big G? :)

*Note I can only ask about adwords and I will only be able to pick a few questions but I will post them here.

Definitely ask about quality score. What is it on the landing page that affects it? I just got certified and no one where in the study materials does it tell you. It just says - remove popup from the site, have privacy policy, have easy navigation.

Is the time the user stays on the page important? The Meta Title? The H1? WTF. Definitly ask about quality score. I'm going to subscribe here as well. I work in house and manage about 20k a month as well.

I think I am definitely going to prob the next guy about this. The last call we had was on a smaller account that spend like 3k a month and the girl was "vague" about answering that. Gonna drive it harder this time when the other account manager calls me since this account we spend BIG bucks.

Ask for Matt Cutts, I hear he loves talking over the phone.. Mention "BHW" it's the password to his direct line.

I doubt the account rep will be able to go into detail (or even knows) about all the factors considered in the quality score but they will likely direct you to http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=35769#3 under the quality guidelines sections. These among other factors you mentioned like bounce rate and time on site would probably be considered too. It is a great question and one I would like to know the answer to as well.

I believe they do know quite a bit at least SOME of the managers I have talked too. But I am going to probe the hell out of them anyway, not really much to lose since we spend over a quarter million with them a year.

Ok guys gonna share info on the quality score thing I got from my account rep. May be new info to some, may not.
    General Tips
    It's all about relevancy
1 Use Dynamic Keywords In Title (this is a function that auto drops the keyword in your ad title)
2 Make sure the page and ad copy have relevant information to keyword obviously
3 Change your displayed url to have extra relevancy like site.com/ location or keyword
4 Ad privacy and TOS to page
    5. Group your ads by keyword relevancy, so set up separate ads that have relevant ad copy for each keyword if you go the manual route.
    6. Improve your CTR (this is a big one), so make sure you bid on exact and phrase keywords and focus on high CTR keywords
    7. Boost your PPC bid on ads just below the 3 fold on the top, you want your performers in those top 3 positions since that will increase your CTR and therefore quality score.

Just some basic tips, hope this helps!

I had one of these calls the other day - and after me grilling them with questions because I thought they were a cold caller tryinmg to scam me out of $$$, they didn't actually inform me of much.

If you spend 20K a month you should already have a pretty good idea of how adwords works. I only spend about 3K a month and it was pretty basic info that I did (and definatly should have) already known.

i think they just do it to feel good about them selves - you know all that "don't be evil" bullshit.

Yeah, they did provide me with some helpful technical info though since we sort through hundreds of keywords and about 20 location campaigns under one account.

Once a quarter? Talk about disrespect.

I get hounded by their account managers all the time for lunch, they are so feeble.. most of them you can find their work histories on the net.

I got the latest one off my jock strap by telling him that I didn't want to discuss shoes (his previous job was as a manager at Aldo's [shoe store here] found via Linkdn).
