I always thought .info's couldn't rank. I just did a google search for "forex software" and found this domain at the end of page 1 SERPs. What gives?

    Code:
    forexrobot-review.info/

i too have .info that ranks #3 on first page while my .com fighting for the same keyword is on #6.

targeted keywords/keyphrase is one focal point in getting ranked aside from doing a lot of backlinkings to it.

uhm the domain extension does not matter unless its a .co.uk or .us,etc...
google is not going to base the rank because extension is different...

.info and hyphens, you aren't supposed to be able to rank with either by themselves let alone both together in the same url and here it is done!

.info's bad ranking is a myth. it may have its disadvantages vs .com which still remains to be proven as several .info domains I own far outrank its .com equivalent owned by someone else..

lol you can't rank with a .info domain! They're just too cheap! Since they're cheap, they must be worthless!

Seriously shut the hell up. I have a lot of .info ranking in the top and I wouldn't mind everyone having the naive button.

    :p I'm being sarcastic. :p

but I'm also being truthful. That's the real reason why people think .info domains don't do well in the SERPs. They're cheap, so they can't be worth anything.

Because they're cheap, people buy them in bulk and throw utter crap on them. Then they complain when they're sandboxed. And because it can't POSSIBLY be their fault, they blame it on the fact that they bought the cheap and worthless .info extension.

When the truth is, g00g don't care. Just don't throw crap on it.

Im an obvious N00B and in the month I have been learning SEO I have heard it both ways.

    School of thought 1

.info,.us, etc. etc international extensions are a waste of money because they will never get page rank no matter how many back links you put into them.

    School of thought 2

The extension does not matter nor how many dashes are in the domain enough backlinks and you will rank.

What gives does anyone have a clear answer? I got more then a few .info names and one .org name that have good keywords titles and Im wondering if its worth the effort.

I also have Boston DOT LI (MODS PLEASE DONT PENALIZE ME HERE) I know Ill never beat out the .com (by the way they stole this domain from me in 1992 had a lawyer call me and tell me I had to give it up I swear its true I was 15 and restarted). Can I ever get close though?

    Thanks!

Could anyone explain to me why for example a .co.uk or a .co.cc isn't gonna rank well?

Heres an example of what backlink spamming can do for you... Most likely from Xrumer

Some 38,000 backlinks most of which I find are blatant spam on forums with a clear anchored link at the end of a posted question. But hey they got em to stick so more power to em.

I never had success with infos but that maybe because I never really tried that hard. If you have an aged info domain name + Xrumer and do deep backlinking then you can really landup on the first page.

The extension really does not matter, its what you do with the site. I have ccTLD's and info's even a few .biz that rank well in the serps. Dashes on the other hand can be a problem. If you have more than one or two in the domain you might as well toss it in the garbage they wont rank worth at all.

there isnt an example, because they would rank the same as any other extension that had the same SEO applied to it.

well apart from the obvious that it will be easier to target the country specific searches with the same extension

Then why aren't more people picking up a free .co.cc if it can rank as well as a .com? Plus there a some very competitive domain names still available in it which are already taken with .com.

Lol, call the news papers. Anyone with backlinks and good onpage-SEO can rank.. .coms just get picked up earlier by the crawlers, thats all.
