What the freaking hell is going on with Google?

I just read about the penguin-update, I know I'm a little bit after but that's because I've been busy recently.

However, is it just me or is Matt Cutts lost in the woods or something? I don't think he actually knows what he is doing.

Take a look at these search results for example:

    Viagra - Google.com:

    http://pinto.scripts.mit.edu/Research/Monster16GPU - Position 8

    http://www.montgomery.edu/ (isn't even loading) - Position 3

    New shoes - Google.com:

    http://www.interpretive.com/rd5/index.php?pg=ns - Position 2

There are many other keywords you can search for where the results are totally irrelevant.

Google is also killing business for people who are creating whitehat-sites filled with quality content, I feel so sorry for them. How are they going to be able to put food on the table when the big G betrays them like this? I haven't even mentioned all the writers, programmers, and webmasters who will be put out of work now.

I had one site ranking well for a keyword, which got affected by the penguin-update. Now replicas of this website ranks on page one, when mine got blasted back to page six. Good work there, Google.

Also, Google claims that you can save your site from the penguin by removing bad links. Let's be realistic, how am I going to get rid of all links of spammy quality, that would take months. Sure, it was wrong of me to build these type of links. But doing it was an action that had to be needed to get traffic. And what about the negative SEO part? I can blast away thousands of sites from their rankings now if I wish, lol.

If they think that I'll start using Adwords just because they've come up with a way to prevent webmasters using their service for free, their thoughts are in the wrong direction.

Seeyah Google, I had an good user experience with you until you decided to improve it further.:(

Social signals? Google plus was a big fail anyway.

I never thought that I would say this but: Thank god for Bing & Yahoo.

An interesting comment I found regarding this subject:

    "
There are 12 GOOGLE "board of directors"
3 are formerly affiliated with AMAZON.

    L. John Doerr: previously a director of Amazon.com

Ann Mather: previously Zappos.com which was aquired by Amazon.com in 2009

    K. Ram Shriram: served as Vice President of Business Development at Amazon.comIT IS OVER!

On April 24th 2012 GOOGLE, which accounts for almost 70% of all online search, released the PENGUIN update.
While they say it was a "webspam" update it was really the change that exposes their relationship with AMAZON and now sends all PORN and PRODUCT searches to AMAZON and it's subsudiaries to include the IMDB.com and Zappos.

Not only does AMAZON control the #1 ranking on GOOGLE for "books", it is #1 for almost every english word from "jewelry boxes" to "XXX" and "sex toys".

    What Does This Mean?

GOOGLE and AMAZON have cleverly manipulated you, the average person, into a direct buying path for basically every product in the world killing off their competition. Google controls 70% of all search online which now means AMAZON controls 70% of all online purchases. THAT' IS ALOT OF MONEY!"

You're not kidding when you say your a little late. All of the above and more has already been discussed in great detail answering exactly the questions your asking here. Why did you feel it necessary to open a new thread when there are tons of them in the forum, when searching?

dear lord, not another penguin thread... this is pretty old news, you could have just dropped a comment on one of the dozens of threads already discussing this. But yes, penguin has been a pretty crazy algo change.
