Let me tell you about myself. I have been studying web design, graphic design, video production and things related to it since 2007. I have done work for a web development form and I have made profit selling freelance design services. I have a good knowledge of blogging, adsense, adwords and SEO.

I have a hostgator reseller account and the capability to design and develop many decent websites. Surely, I should be making money with these skills. I would love to design a network of websites but I lack an "ahah idea." An idea that will lead me to profit.

I could focus my efforts on freelancing but it hasn't been a steady income. Can someone suggest something with my given skills? Does anyone need a good U.S. based partner?

Well, I wanted to work as a web designer for a marketing firm or other business but I am more interested in producing passive income. I have a keen interest in everything related to the internet and I wanted to learn how to create things for the web. I am a disabled veteran (afghanistan) and I have had some health setbacks in the past that left me unemployable for periods of time. I receive a monthly check for a service connected disability that will always be there. It isn't enough to live off of and I just feel that if anyone could make good money online, it has to be me.

I have been a fulltime freelance graphic designer for over 2 years. It has provided for my family. So you can make money, I am not rich but has been more than any regular job I ever had as retail managers.

Not to say that is the best way. I too am here to learn new ways to get more of a passive income so I don't have to trade work for dollars eventually.

But the statement isn't 100% correct, you CAN make a lot of money with designing. But unless you outsource that work (i dont) then you will put in a lot of work for that money

Anyways, OP best of luck! Just keep trying and learning. I have pretty much the same skills and story and finally after a few months of trying I am starting to make a little money in IM and blogs.

Thank you so much for your encouraging words. I wholeheartedly agree with you about outsourcing work. When you do design and development of websites, you are putting in a ton of hours on projects. It seems the way I can make bank is to continue my advertising campaign and manage the business, talk to customers and etc. I think that is probably my stronger ability. Dealing with customers, landing the sale and etc. I get leads everyday but it can be daunting when you get like 30 requests for design and development and its just you.

Ideally, I would like to find good people to work with, because I seem to find projects well.

A big part of business is selling yourself ;). I am just looking for advice really. I have no service to sell here and do not need to be selling a service here. But yeah....the original post is a little pathetic.

Yes, It is just hard to trust people to represent your name. I have put lots of 80+ hour work weeks in trying to getting everything done my self and having to turn some people away. I hate loosing money but it is just so hard to trust people to do your work. Anyways, do you still get 30 plus requests for work?

I used to always have a 40+ "active" Customer list (as in still working not paid yet for) at once. But my main source of getting customers has been really hard the past few weeks and I am down to 17 as my active list and it seems I am getting more payments than I am new customers so that is going down too. I would be interested in your advertising methods if you would be willing to share?

I seemed to find the right combination of keywords for craigslist and have developed a method of wording my sales pitch that makes the client think they are getting discounted services, but they are really paying the going rate. I still advertise but I am not accepting projects (unless I am really interested in them) because I need to rework my game plan. I think it might be time to find a partner.

Yes, Craigslist was my method as well for the past 2 years. I have a very personal approach that converted real easily and have a lot of reviews from clients on facebook page of over 5k fans that gave me social proof to help. But that is the method I mentioned that is hard right now for me. Not converting the my ad for sales. but get my ad out there live period :(

Do you post them your self or do you hire them out? ( or did rather if you are not any more )

I post the ad myself and renew it. It's possible for me to post similiar ads in cities across the nation but I stick with my target home city for now.

If you are sood good at web design you should create wordpress template, build a website to promote it and post on the major forums it. I think wordpress template design can easily get 10k$ per month...

Hey, I am also new to the whole Internet Marketing scene and am still trying to make my first couple bucks.

Do you have Skype or anything? Maybe we can shoot around some ideas with each other or something since we're both new. Share guides that we find, case-studies, etc. I'm just looking for someone to learn the ropes with.

Let me know. :) Good luck on your endeavor!

This idea is interesting to me. Also, I have begun a search for a programming partner and have sent email to three different principals since making my original post. I will keep you all updated. Right now, I want to find a good joomla developer/designer for a current project and see if that person can be a long term partner.
