Why don't you try to revert it back to the old theme? it would work for sure.

As long as your ULR structure is the same you should be OK. If you have changed your internal linking, the number of internal links or links showing on a sidebar, links on the home page, google has to reprocess your website as it thinks that there was a major sitewide update. Nowadays it takes longer than it used to be as google is kind of slow. They have a number of algorithms stack on each other doing different things and it takes time for things to come back to normal after an update. If you have changed your URL structure it's going to take some time.

Whenever the search engine detects a change, that would get their metrics updated for your site in the process, and looks like your metrics got recalculated and you got a lower score int he process, I guess. Maybe the new template's coding isn't as good, or if it has issues, or etc. I'd only go for those paid templates, as their coding are always being monitored and updated to ensure compliance. Otherwise, if you are already enjoying good ranking, don't bother changing anything on that page, else you'd risk getting re-evaluated.

You'll come back to normal. Just dont make any more drastic changes like reverting back to the old one or anything.

    Hope, you implemented 301 redirects.

A few days ago, I finally changed website to https (I know, it was long overdue) and google is slow to recrawl the website... it's OK as I expect this to take a week or more... just a matter of time.
I just keep doing what I was going before and soon my site will come back stronger.

You have no choice but wait and see what will happen, it appears that Google has to reprocess the website. Watch the crawl stats in Google Search Console (under legacy tools and reports) you should see a huge spike in Googlebot activity.

    Home Page:
Have you changed URL structure and greatly modified text content?

    That would cause serious drop.

Visual aspect has very little influence on SEO.
