So I've been split testing my sites for a while, I usually use a different strategy for each batch, so apparently the most self-sustaining way to rank well is to look for sites with High PR from Blogs, Extremely Low OBL, and Low Activity (barely any posts or comments), you build around 30-60 links, then leave it, don't build anymore, and watch it google dance it to #1. Don't use any Web 2.0s or tiers, AT ALL.

I generally choose sites that are somewhat competitive, (clickbank products).

For some reason the recent algo, I find, doesn't really like ongoing link-builds, because most of the time, things are fads more than they are trends (Pogs or other shit lose their hype).

So anyways, that's something I realized with white hat seo.

Try this with one site if you want, and see what happens, do your own due diligence!

I have just put up a new site and may give this a try. It's only going to be a small site maybe 10 pages.

Any tips on how you find these blogs you mentioned? And are they blogs in your niche/topic your using?

So basically 100% blog comments, most likely nofollow most of them? Kudos if this is how you're ranking your sites - I'm as surprised as you are that this is working for you. I would guess it has a lot to do with niche selection too though...

I am not sure about this method. Sounds more like Matt Cunts is visiting BHW and trying to troll us with typical lies and false info? If this method is working for you I say stick with it.

The fact that this has worked on ONE site does not mean BY ANY CHANCE that it will work for others.

Furthermore, you give stats without backing it up with your keywords, so we won't know the "effectiveness" about such an amazing technique.

In either case, next time you share, try to give some more details as this does not do much for those users wanting to implement it.

Yes I do agree with Reyone, may be your competition is low and google algo acts different for different niches, but again it would be an interesting test.

Keyword must be low competition, from my experience this was not effective. But I would like to see it work that way.

Blog comments from pages with good PA/PR can work longer term as in this example, because the inactivity means few competitors have discovered it (yet) to add their comments with links, thus raising the OBL. You can set it and forget it for now, but it doesn't alter the reality that the blogs are vulnerable to de-ranking if their OBL or other elements change. Linking to Web 2.0s first, which one can more control, can act as a buffer to protect the target money sites from direct damage from good links that may later turn bad.

OP how many times have you tried this method? Seems like it would be very dependent on the niche/competition

    LOL.

Let me tell you a story.

I had a client who wanted to be on first page for his industry in his local areas. He said he'll pay me more the faster I do it. So I built a page on his site for super niche niche's in super local area. I fired a couple of social shares and within 2 hours I was #3.

The moral of the story is anyone can get to number 1 for anything... It depends on difficulty.

Homepage post 1000 words max for a couple of posts.
Put in the privacy disclaimers on your home page
Put in a virtual address and use a google map embed for your contact me page
    Add an About me
Throw in a Text Widget with a presentation about your expertise or your passion for the product/service
Write in a way where it's like you are having a conversation and it's absolutely fun to read for your seo content! Don't keyword stuff, mention your keyword in bold I would say 1% of the total word count.
Let it index, then start building links with High PA/DA for example: http://www.prlog.org/ (PADA: 91/89), or use alexa and click categories and look for your niche (http://www.alexa.com/topsites/category), then it'll list a ton of high PA/DA sites, and you register and post stuff there for free.

That's about it really, I guess clickbank product isn't as difficult, the ones I get are pretty high gravity, but compared to stuff like garcinia etc I guess it's not eh.

OP, I just skimmed through the thread but people seem to be taking this as a case study when it is far from a detailed plan.

How many sites has this worked for?

Over what period did you run the test?

Seems a bit fluky to be calling it "set it and forget it, self-sustaining seo"

Hold on, just looked at OP's previous posts: ...

... now I am quickly leaving the thread, hoping nobody notices that I was here
